Online learning has always been the focus of the research of educational technology.As a highly autonomous learning,motivation of online learning is the emphasis and difficulty of online learning research.Problems like low course completion,high dropout rate and poor learning efficiency have been shown in MOOC,mobile learning and other Web-based instructions(online teaching method),the fundamental cause of which lies in failing to stimulate and sustain student’s online learning motivation.With the development of mobile instant communication technology,web-based community learning has become a new web-based learning method.In the theoretical research,not many monographic studies focus on taking webbased community learning as a new learning method.But in the practice field,there’s a growing trend of adopting this new learning method in corporate training and webbased learning.Without sufficient endorsement of theoretical studies,problem of lacking learning motivation also occurs in the practice of web-based community learning.Since the 21 st century,Gamification as a new mode of thinking has achieved remarkable results in company management,workplace training,health care and other fields.This thesis aims to promote web-based learning motivation through the gamification design of web-based community learning method.How to conduct the gamification design is the main issue explored within this thesis.John M.Keller’s ARCS motivational model provides systematic theoretical framework for the motivation-promotion focused instructional design.Therefore,this thesis adopts the ARCS motivational model as the theoretical basis for the gamification design,integrating game elements and game mechanics into the design of web-based community learning,so as to promote web-based learning motivation and improve learning efficiency.Firstly,the concepts of learning motivation and learner’s characteristics are defined.ARCS motivational design model and game-based learning are expounded.Gamification design principles based on ARCS motivational model is concluded through motivational analysis on the elements of gamification design,further constructing a gamification web-based community learning model V1.0Then,based on gamification web-based community learning model V1.0,develops “teach you how to use PPT to design H5 page”,a gamification web-based community learning course and corresponding teaching implementation program.In the teaching practice,gamification design research falls into three stages.Qualitative data including completion of the course,student feedback,community activities and student interview are collected and analyzed to detect problems in the teaching practice,so as to conduct iterative design to improve teaching program.Finally,the data of three teaching practice stages are analyzed,summarizing the important factors influencing the gaming community learning design,and builds a gamification web-based community learning model V2.0.Through the application of IMMS Motivation Scale to the analysis of the experimental group and control group of the teaching experiment,it can be shown that gamification web-based community learning can increase student’s interest in learning and stimulate their learning motivation.
