A new era of the Internet technology has integrated into all aspects of people’s life.Now,online education is flourish,mobile education apps for highly convenient and flexible features by the learners generally preferred,including language learning APP is one of the most popular type,particularly in the strong learning ability,have a high demand for test students groups in popularity is very high.However,the biggest pain point of language learning apps is that users are not willing to use them continuously,and the learning form is single and not interesting.In recent years,gamification has been on the rise.It can increase user engagement,and at the same time,it can increase fun and bring a pleasant user experience.Taking college students as the research object,this thesis studies how gamification drives the user behavior of language learning APP and achieves good driving effect,so as to improve users’ willingness to continue using and user experience.Firstly,come to the conclusion that three levels of gamification design system by study the relevant theories of gamification design: motivation layer,mechanism layer and element layer.Gamification motivation driving user behavior is the underlying logic of gamification design.By defining the language learning APP and abstracting the user behavior of language learning on it,the gamification driving model of language learning APP is constructed combining with the driving principle of gamification design system and user behavior.Then,the relationship between gamification and experience design is analyzed,and the experience process of gamification of language learning APP is established as a working method to guide subsequent design from early stage to design practice.Secondly,the user research is carried out by investigating the basic usage status of college students through quantitative research.In the user behavior research,the logobservation method is used to study the long-term user behavior,summarizes the characteristics of user behavior,use pain point,cool point;Octagonal behavior analysis was used to investigate and analyze the motivation defects in each gamifation stage.Summarize the specific driving opportunity points at each stage of the user journey.In order to further develop functional design,in-depth interviews were conducted to obtain users’ motivational needs,and functional design strategies corresponding to four types of learners were output based on driving opportunity points,motivational needs and four-player theory.Finally,the design concept,information architecture,gamification mechanism and prototype scheme of the APP are combined with the output language of design strategy.Task test and user experience evaluation questionnaire were used to verify the usability of the design scheme,and the control group experiment was used to test and compare the user’s perception of driving force to verify the driving effect of the scheme.Starting from the motivation layer of gamification,this thesis studies how gamification design drives user behavior of language learning APP,constructs gamification driving strategy of language learning APP,and carries out design practice.Through verification,the scheme reaches the usability standard and has high user experience satisfaction.Through the evaluation and comparison of the driving force of the control group,it is verified that the driving effect of the scheme is obviously better than the current market scheme.This thesis proposes a new perspective from the perspective of motivation in gamification research,and provides a reference direction for the design of gamification application in language learning APP.
