The author finds great interests in the “space” generated by the political education course being given to high school students during the process of researching related materials.The main feature of political teaching materials designed for high school students is that it provides a great “space” for students and teachers to create.As an important curriculum resources helping students to enrich their imagination,teaching space forms dynamically and is created by textbook editors,teachers and students.Focusing on the teaching space of political education course and with the help of textbook Economic Life used for fresh students of high middle school,the paper presents the types and functions of teaching space through the analysis of how the teaching space presents itself.With the analysis of the interviews with senior students and teachers,the paper discusses the factors influencing the forming of teaching space and gives some suggestions on helping students to develop better teaching space.This article is divided into six chapters.The first chapter analyzes the researching results of teaching space and presents the research direction.The second chapter explains the connotation of political teaching space in high school and analyzes the relationship among some items related with teaching space,namely teaching space,textbooks,auxiliary teaching materials and white space.And also,this chapter introduces the theoretical basis for the forming of teaching space.Third chapter analyzes the forming process of the teaching space in combination with the concrete examples in the Economic Life.With the analysis of five different text types,the paper concludes how the teaching space is created by editors,teachers and students and summarizes several types of teaching,namely similar experience space,background space of knowledge,speculative space,practice space.The fourth chapter analyzes the functions of teaching space in combination with specific examples.There are several functions described below: attract the attention of students,teach students to think independently,cultivate students' ability to think,help students take the initiative to establish their own knowledge system,master the prerequisite,preheat the content below,deepen the key points,connect knowledge points,build students' personality and help training students' ability to integrate theory with practice.From the perspective of teachers,textbooks and students,the fifth chapter analyzes the factors which influences the forming of teaching space.First,the teaching space can be controlled by teacher's attitude to the text,teacher's teaching experience,teaching methods and their subject professional level.Second,textbooks itself can be factors influencing the forming of teaching space,for example,obsolete teaching materials,complex activities and unreasonable and illogical course setting.Third,factors stemming from students can also limit the forming of teaching space,such as student's attitude to the text,students' knowledge structure,students' way of thinking and students' life experience.Based on the factors affecting the formation of teaching space,and combined with concrete examples in the textbook,chapter 6 offers several suggestions for teachers to help students build better teaching space.First,teachers should be armed with rich professional knowledge reserve,learning related knowledge widely.Second,the selection of materials is supposed to be reasonable by our subjective initiative.Third,teachers can use their knowledge reserve to help students build teaching space and adopt teaching methods to represent the situation and stimulate students' senses directly.
