Research On The Status Of Master's Thesis Publication

During the period of master degree in, publishing papers is a comprehensive examination of the scientific research ability and academic level of graduate students.And it is one of the methods of quality evaluation of postgraduate taken by high school, while it even become an important indicator of the thesis quality evaluation.Therefore, the master's thesis published by the University has become the goal of colleges, teachers and students. However, due to the graduate student is in the midst of the academic research of the primary stage, there are many specific characteristics in the theoretical knowledge and practical experience compared with the academic's papers published, so the practice of graduate students has particularities. In order to probe into the particularity and understand problems existing in the thesis published by graduate students, it is necessary to investigate the present situation of the thesis publication of the graduate student, and analyze and probe into the social practice.This study takes the master graduate student of six universities in Nanjing as investigation object. Investigation methods and quantitative methods such as literature method, questionnaire survey method, and interview method are used synthetically.The research analyzes the current situation and problems of the graduate students, and puts forward some corresponding suggestions.The conclusions are as follows: 1. Through the survey found that publishing papers is valued universally among the postgraduates, and most graduate students have strong willing and positive evaluation of publishing papers. 2. The extrinsic motivation of publishing for postgraduates is high, while the intrinsic motivation is low. 3. The majority of institutions have institutional requirements of papers publishing, and these requirements have a positive impact on promoting graduate students' outputs. 4. The quality and quantity of publications is at lower level and there are significant differences in grade, profession and gender. 5. There's high pressure for postgraduates to publish thesis, and they are very dependent on teachers,part of postgraduates spend insufficient time on papers. 6. Graduate students have great difficulties on writing and contributing because of the single access to information and lack of effective guidance. 7. It's urgent to improve college management and support to promote graduate thesis-publishing.To solve problems in this investigation, It needs to be improved from four aspects, and they are graduate students, graduate tutors, institutions of higher learning,academic journals. Graduate students need to correct motivations of paper presentation and stimulate interest in learning, and improve their academic level and quality, as well as participate in the practice of publishing papers actively. And devote enough time and energy to strive for publication. The tutors should enhance the sense of responsibility to strengthen the guidance and supervision postgraduate papers.The university should perfect the management system of postgraduate education and create a good environment for scientific research. Academic journals should strengthen the regulation and management, they should also treat manuscripts of postgraduates reasonably.
