Gender is the most basic social categorization during the long history of human being.People living in gender world follow the so-called social regulations which rule the social order and maintain social development.Being given gender label by parents is the first step for newborn baby to step into the society.On that account,gender development impacts the personality development of individuals.It is an important component of individual perception and social development which sets up the bridge between individual development and social development during the socialization process of individuals.Thus it is the inevitable way for individuals entering society.In addition,the smooth gender development of children depends on three development levels of gender constancy of children,namely gender identity(perception from individuals to the gender of themselves or others),gender stability(the perception of gender does not change along with time)and gender consistency(gender does not change with the change of appearances including costume or hair style).Children's gender development accelerates relying on perception of gender concept and acquisition to gender characteristics.However,the gender development of newborn kid who does not have self-consciousness is firstly impacted by the behavior and idea of its parents.Parents and home education are extremely important for children's gender establishment and development which decide not only the development of core competitiveness and social adaptive ability of children but also the individual socializaiton and individual future development.Therefore,it is of great research value to learn the development characteristics and trend of gender constancy of children and further study the relation and action mechanism between gender constancy and home education.3-6 years old is an important stage in establishing and developing gender roles for children.Family is the soil and breeding bed for children to achieve all-around development.Therefore,the key to promoting gender development of children lies in doing sexual education in family.Subtly doing sexual education in family can effectively promote the smooth development of children's gender.This paper takes children aging from 3 to 6 from five middle-level kindergartens in Xi'an City and Baoji City and their parents as study objects.Documentary method is adopted to collect related material and research results.Individual tests are conducted to test the development characteristics of gender constancy of children.Also,the paper uses questionnaire method to get the status of parenting patterns of children and adopts specific statistical analysis to study the relation between gender constancy and parenting pattern.According to problems during investigation and deep reason analysis,rational suggestions are put forward,wishing to provide reliable basis and effective reference for parents to better parent children and promote gender constancy development of children.Study results:Considering the three stages of gender constancy development,two parenting patterns of caring protection and strict punishment can hinder the development of gender identity.Strict punishment and controlling and interference can hinder the development of gender stability.Caring protection is not beneficial to the development of gender consistency.Related suggestions:a)to improve the development level of gender consistency of children and promote the development of gender constancy;b)to foster diversified gender concepts;c)to learn the establishment law and developmental characteristics and treat behaviors going against gender with scientific eyesight as well as give specific guidance;d)to overcome the gender difference of children and adopt unified parenting pattern;e)to create a gender-equal family atmosphere and fade traditional social gender consciousness.
