With the rapid development of information update,it is the main problem for people to think how to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of information dealing.As the expression tool of thinking and knowledge visualization,mind map has won people’s favor by its special ways.It not only has played an underestimated role in teachers’ teaching design and teaching process,but also is the key tool for promoting students’ study and cultivating their feelings and attitudes when it is introduced in education field.So it gets teachers and students’ love.While,there is a little assessment research on the effectiveness of mind map in primary school English teaching.Now,with the extensive use and deep research of mind map,the problem of its effectiveness is more and more valuable for us to think and explore.The research background of this paper is the usage of mind map in primary school English teaching,and then,the paper made an introspection and research on the efficiency of mind map in primary school English teaching on the basis of effective teaching theory.Firstly,the author started from the connotation of primary school English mind map teaching,and then made a deep analysis the necessity,process,characteristics and the superiority of it.Meanwhile,combining with the understanding of effective teaching theory,the author defined the standards of the effectiveness of primary school English mind map teaching as four parts:the realization of teaching objectives,the integration of teaching contents,the interaction between teachers and students,and the changes of students’ learning effect.In order to explore the effectiveness of mind map in the practice of primary school English teaching,this paper mainly adopts the experimental method of English words dictation test,and it took pretest and post-test in the two classes of grade four and five(including experimental class and control class respectively),then got the higher teaching efficiency classes.From the statistical data,we can see that the growth rates of students’ English grades in experimental classes are higher than control classes after a period of English teaching;that is to say,the effectiveness of mind map in primary school English teaching has been achieved.In addition,the author took a students’questionnaire survey in experimental classes,which mainly want to know the changes and real feelings of students’ in learning interests,thinking ability,knowledge integration ability and others,then as the further complement and improvement for the students’ grades test to ensure the reliability and validity of research results.Finally,the author interviewed the two English teachers so as to know the teachers’ experience,feelings and imagination for English mind map teaching.After that,the author get a further understanding of primary school English teaching practice and it is better for concluding the characteristics of higher-efficiency classes and analyzing its causes.In order to implement teachers’ suggestions and to solve the problems in primary school English mind map teaching practice,and then to use the mind map more rationally and more effectively in primary school English teaching,the author put forward some relevant suggestions.Firstly,we should pay more attention to the scientific nature in the design of mind map,attention to the determination and changes of its colors,lines,nodal points and others.Secondly,the teacher should notice the students’ differences to avoid the "sameness",Thirdly,we can give full play the effect of "map guide mind" adequately when we take the role of "mind guide map" so as to activate the students’ divergent thinking.Fourthly,in the style of mind map,we can draw it in a diversified way to avoid in a sole.Lastly,we should pay more attention to the link between English core knowledge and mind map,so we can make an in-depth analysis of English learning materials,distinguish the primary and secondary so as to clean up the English core knowledge and its framework,and then,it the primary school English teaching practice will be optimized better and the effectiveness of English classroom teaching will be improved well.
