Physics is a subject with strong knowledge structure. And its concepts are the key elements of composing the structure. So it can be said that concepts learning is an important part during studying Physics. In China, students study physics formally from junior high school. But it has essential difference between junior high school's physics and senior high school's physics. With the improvement of physics knowledge's systematic level, the demand for understanding level of physics concepts is gradually increase. However some new high schools students don't update their cognition of physics concepts, and still remain junior high school's learning habits. For this reason, these students tend to enter the development bottleneck.Base on the fundamentality and significance of Mechanics, high school Mechanics concepts were selected as this survey subject. In order to design targeted teaching program accurately and help students overcome learning difficulties easily, teachers should be aware of students's situation. But our country pays low attention to diagnostic evaluation for a long time.Teachers always judge by their intuition and experience,it leads to the accuracy of the evaluation results is difficult to be guaranteed. So it is necessary to use a more objective evaluation tool to be assisted. In view of the heavy task of our teachers,we try to use Three-tier test to solve the problem. In this research,Three-tier test is not only the main research tool, but also the research object. The study was conducted in two parts.First, form a high school Mechanics's three-tier questionnaire by means of literature,interviews,open-ended questionnaires etc.Second, explore the senior one students' Mechanistic concept level through the Three-tier test.Through this Three-tier Test survey,we found that the situation of high school students' mechanical concept is as follows:(1)The average percentage of Correct Concept(Scientific Concepts)is 29.9%;The average percentage of Lack of Confidence is 4.3%;The average percentage of False Negative is 3.7%;The average percentage of Lack of Knowledge is 23.9%,which contains 9.7%False positive,4.6%FTF,and 9.7%Suspected Misconception; The average percentage of Misconception is 20.1%.(2)The question of lower accuracy is related to Newton's third law and Centripetal force.(3)The misconception appears more in 'I5'(circular impetus),'FR2'(most active agent produces greatest force),and 'CF'(Centrifugal force),the percentage are all higher than 30%.In terms of category, the probabilities of 'Imputes' and 'Force and Reaction' are higher than others categories. In addition, through this study, found that the traditional multiple choice test will appear to overestimate the students' correct concept or misconception. And if choose the three-tier test as diagnostic tools, while ensuring efficient, can provide teachers with more detailed and accurate diagnostic information, help teachers identify the false positive and false negative more effectively. At the same time,three-tier test is more flexibility. The requirement of experimenter and experimentee are much lower, even if teacher without systematic training of teaching evaluation,it won't affect the diagnosis results. It's appropriate for the reality of our country. Therefore,we hope that this study will enrich the evaluation tool of physics teaching and provide advice for the future development of physics teaching in China.
