The implementation proposals in the Mathematics Curricular Standards for Full Compulsory Education require that teachers should not only make students master the procedure of operating skills,but have them understand the principle behind,namely the requirements for guiding students to explore the calculating rules and helping them make the rules clear.However,during the internship and the period of collating data,it is obvious that a great number of teachers emphasize the diversity calculating methods,ignoring the calculating rules.Therefore,the purpose of this dissertation is to explore the effective strategies,based on the understanding of calculating rules,for calculating teaching by a status survey of elementary school math teachers when they are teaching.In order to know about the current situation of math teaching,which is based on the understanding of calculating rules,25 math classes from various districts of Shanghai have been observed and 4 teachers with different seniority have been interviewed.After the observation and interviews,statistics has been alanyzed.According to the statistics and the outcome,it is believed that math teachers in shanghai primary school paid some attention to the rules of calculation.It is satisfying that they guide students to understand the rules of calculation while teaching calculation.However,the difference age of teaching will influence the level of attention on understanding of the rules of calculation.Some of them misunderstand the rules of calculation.The different level of attention on understanding of the rules of calculation is due to different people.On the whole,the level of attention on understanding of the rules of calculation increases with the increasing of teaching age.The times of participating in exploration of the rules of calculation,on the whole,are abundant,and the time is enough.But,students' age would also influences the activities.Students of low and middle grades have more times and longer time participating the exploration activities.The forms of exploration on the rules of calculation are more ample and their performances are also more active.The activities of exploration about the rules of calculation would be reduced with the rising of students' age.In the end,it is believed that in order to enhance students' calculating ability and make the calculating rules-based teaching effective,the following suggestions should be taken into consideration.Design teaching activities by using multiple representation mode to promote the understanding of students;create the teaching situation which is close to students' real life;cultivate students' ability to understand calculating rules by reasoning analysis;intensify students' understanding of calculating rules in practice and make the understanding of calculating rules and the exploring activities throughout the whole teaching process;increase the proportion of calculating rules in practice and tests and fortify students' attention to understand calculating rules.
