This thesis extracts the basic data from CGSS(2010) as the sample and adopts the methods of logistic regression analysis and multivariate statistical regression analysis to make a comparative study between the elderly groups, thus exploring the role of social insurance participation and their religious beliefs. The results of relevant regression analysis indicate that there exists certain substitutional relations between social insurance participation and religious beliefs. To be more specific, social insurance participation can reduce the participation frequency of religious activities and lower the subjective recognition degree of religion for the aged significantly though it cannot prominently eliminate the possibility of turning to religion. The influence of social insurance projects on their choice of religious faiths varies a lot. In other words, the effect and impact of social assistance are far from satisfactory than the insurance projects. Moreover, we should aware that the influence of social insurance participation on different senior-aged is diverse, which requires us to cope with and research it according to the given circumstances. Then the author is going to propose the following suggestions based on the research findings demonstrated above. First and foremost, the improvement of social insurance treatment and the perfection of current social assistance system as well as the innovation of assistance system operation are vital to satisfy the present needs of the old. Secondly, it is of great essence to balance the relationship between social insurance and the role of religion. Last but not the least, it is also important to fully aware the distinction and differences between senior citizens and make a scientific classification, and take various efficiency measures to guarantee their life quality in later years.
