Disruptive innovation is an innovation model that relative to sustaining innovation.It didn't provide better performance product for mainstream consumers,but usually creates products that more convenient and cheaper than the ones in the market.Its initial target markets are new markets or low-end markets.Enterprises which launch disruptive innovation can keep themselves away from the fierce competition of mainstream markets.On the other hand,entering the market from the low-end market may help enterprises find more opportunities,brings scale economy.With the coming of the knowledge economy era and the continuous change of business environment,the applicability of sustaining innovation has been doubted,while disruptive innovation might give managers new insight into enterprises innovation.Enterprise external knowledge network is composed of the connections between company and the knowledge source in the network.In the era of information explosion,enterprises can't implement disruptive innovation only by knowledge absorbed from the inside,so the outside knowledge sources become extremely important.In order to fulfill disruptive innovation,with which sources should enterprise keep in touch?By which means should enterprise acquire knowledge from outside knowledge sources?These are the problems that need to be solved as soon as possible.Take into account the importance of external knowledge network for disruptive innovation,this paper intend to launches the research from two aspects:the scale of external knowledge network and the relationship quality of external knowledge network.We put enterprise external knowledge network into 3 categories:the external market,public institutions and comprehensive information.Based on the survey of previous research,we use 4 methods to measure the scale and the connection strength of external knowledge network:the frequency for enterprises to acquire knowledge from external knowledge network,the depth for enterprises to acquire knowledge from external knowledge network,the persistence for enterprises to acquire knowledge from external knowledge network and the number of outside knowledge sources which cooperate with enterprises.By collecting the questionnaire,this paper conducts factor analysis and regression analysis on 212 companies.The result shows four conclusions.First,the increasement of frequency and depth between enterprises and upstream and downstream firms has a positive effect on disruptive innovation.On the other hand,the increasement of durability and number between enterprises and upstream and downstream firms has no effect on disruptive innovation.Second,the relationship between enterprises and public institutions has a strong positive effect on disruptive innovation.Third,the relationship between enterprises and comprehensive information organizations has a positive effect on disruptive innovation.By further analysis,we found that the longer enterprises has been working with their consumers and suppliers,the harder they will succeed in disruptive innovation,it's because there is path dependence between enterprises and their consumers and suppliers,which isn't conducive to the establishment of new value network.This paper uses empirical research to study the influence of enterprise external knowledge network to disruptive innovation,which obtains a good result,meanwhile provides some advices for enterprises when conducting disruptive innovation.
