The"Three rural"issue has always been a major issue between social development of our country,farmers are the core of the"three rural" issues.The deepening of social and economic development and market-oriented reform has lead to rapid social differentiation,the traditional farmers have been differentiated into different types of farmer groups.The rural household differentiation has affected all aspects of social life in rural areas,the rural economy and society.Research of Farmers differentiation questions is of great significance for the promotion of the realization of China's agricultural modernization,rural conflicts and promote the coordinated development of urban and rural social economic development of the entire region and to promote the national economy.Agriculture is the main form of agricultural production,and agricultural production materials(pesticides,fertilizers,agricultural machinery,etc.)is the precondition of agricultural production.Agricultural production materials related to people's livelihood,national stability and food security.After China's accession to WTO,agricultural market gradually opening to foreign investment,China's agricultural market has emerged in many business channels,a variety of economic sectors,a new pattern of diversified forms.Many factors Influence farmers on their agricultural channel selection,and different types of households also show different trend of channel selection.Therefore,combining the rural household differentiation and agricultural channel selection research has both theoretical and practical significance.This study is based on the 2014 survey data of 4 cities in Jiangsu province,attempts finding the rural household differentiation phenomenon and factors that influence the selection of agricultural material channel.The results show that:the individual dealers,agricultural chains,agricultural technology service station are the main channels for farmers to obtain agricultural inputs.Firstly we use cluster analysis to classify and compare different types of households;Secondly,we use factor analysis to find channel selection factors in the channel variables,thirdly,we use multinomial choice models to look for the variable factors in family factors,channel factors,social factors,market and environmental factors that influence the channel choice;finally find the agricultural channel selection problems and propose appropriate policy recommendations based on empirical results.The results of empirical research shows that farmers in Jiangsu have differentiated to three types,and their choice of different types of farmers is also different.The three major channels farmers buy fertilizer from are individual dealer stores,chain stores and agricultural technology service stations.Farmers of type two is more likely to buy from the agricultural chain stores and agricultural station than type one farmers.Farmers of type three are more likely to get agricultural material from the agricultural chain stores.Gender,age,agricultural income,whether family members or friends and relatives had been a village cadres,quality,service assurance,price,service satisfaction,geographical factors have a significant impact on purchasing channels.Agricultural acreage has no effect on channel choice.Compared with men,women are more likely to choose from agricultural techhology service chains and agricultural material chain stores compared with the individual dealership.Older farmers are more likely to choose individual dealership to buy fertilizers.Farmers have family members or relatives had been a village cadres significantly improved probabilities of choosing agricultural technology service station.Because of the different levels of agricultural development throughout the Jiangsu Province,Yangzhou farmers prefer to buy fertilizer in the agricultural chain stores compared with Changzhou farmers,while farmers in Huaian and Xuzhou are prefer to get fertilizer from an individual dealer.
