Consumption is a big issue to the macro economy of China. The consumption level shows the satisfaction degree of consumption demand. And the consumption rate indicates the importance of consumption demand to the economic development. This research starts from discussing China's current consumption demand situation by describing its consumption level and consumption rate in the whole as well as divided with regions.Through the summary and comparison of their characteristics and differences,it is found that generally among different regions, the consumption level is positive relative to its economic development while the consumption rate shows more sophisticated characteristics. To further test the relationship of a region's consumption demand with its economic development, the interaction between consumption and investment is added to the consumption theory. Then the objective rule and manifestation of China's consumption demand difference among different regions can be formed clearly. In terms of the methodology, the thesis mainly focus on how the regional economic development diversity which is measured by the per capita GDP affects the regional consumption demand. The consumption rate formation function is constructed with it under the western consumption theory. The results show that China's consumption rate has an inner connection with regional economic development diversity.Meanwhile, the empirical analysis suggest that the influence factors of China's consumption rate not only vary in different areas, but are also distinct from the traditional theory, especially for the population age structure, which becomes the particular character of China's consumption demand.Followed with these findings, there finally presents a perspective of how to regard China's consumption issue properly and coordinate the regional development difference in practice for the policy makers.
