In the World War?,the United States dropping two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, completely defeated Japanese determination, which ended the evil of the World War?.Being beset with difficulties both in internal and external affairs, the bombed Japan announced unconditional surrender. The defeated Japan was riddled with a thousand gaping wounds, extremely depressed,of which the economy was on the brink of collapse and foreign economic relations fell into a state of paralysis.Although the Japanese mainland was severely damaged, the foundation of industrialization and technical still existed. In just ten years,Japan rapidly completed the economic recovery. The reason, without exception,is the result of internal factors and external factors. As one of the external factors,United States played an important role in the postwar Japanese economic recovery process. The remodeling of the pattern of East Asia after the World War?provided a good opportunity for Japan's economic recovery.Because of the needs of the US strategy and in order to make Japan no longer be a threat to both the world and United States, the General Headquarters carried out a series of democratization reforms in Japan. It can be said that the democratization reform not only laid the basic pattern of the Japanese society, but also created favorable conditions for the recovery and development of the postwar Japanese economy. After entering 1947,the United States and the Soviet Union of the anti-fascist camp formed a confrontation. With the US strategy adjusted, the US policy towards Japan was also changed.Helping Japan achieve economic recovery became the primary goal of the United States. After the outbreak of the Korean War,the United States regarded Japan as "military base" which brought special prosperity and greatly promoted Japan's economic recovery. This paper mainly examines the specific performance of the the United States inthe process of Japan's economic recovery during the decade from 1945-1955 and explores the important role of the United States in the postwar Japanese economic recovery.
