The Characteristic And Influence Factors Of Sophistication Of China's Imports

In recent years,with the constant improvement of the level of economic development and the position in global value chain of China,pay more and more attention to optimize the trade structure,scholars not only focus on the expansion of imports,but also on the technical structure of imports,in view of this,this paper calculates the import sophistication and analyzes its change trend,analyzes the technical structure of china's imports deeply.Based on the measurement of Sophistication of Hausmann(2005)and Rodrik(2006),by adopting the HS-6 digital commodity trade data of the UN Comtrade of 37 countries,this paper reference Dai Xiang etc.(2011),using Lall(2006)according to the technical structure of the proposed method of product classification,all commodities are divided into four levels of categories,the resource class in primary products,low technology-intensive products,high technology intensive products and technology-intensive products.This paper measured and analyzed China's import sophistication during of 1995-2014,and with the typical developed countries and developing countries in the international comparison.The results show:during the years of 1995-2014,China's import sophistication has been improved,and the medium technology-intensive and high technology-intensive products in the import share are higher.In the study of the influencing factors of import sophistication,based on the existing theory on the basis of the related data from 1995 to 2014 has carried on the empirical analysis,through the grey correlation analysis and time series analysis based on VECM model for the introduction of real national income,China IP Protection,and other factors impact on import sophistication has carried on the empirical analysis.Results show that R&D investment,real national income,investment in fixed assets FDI and export trade with the import sophistication correlation degree are higher.Real national income and export trade are positively correlated with import sophistication;investment in fixed assets,FDI and R&D investment are negatively related.Among the influencing factors of import sophistication,the main influencing factors of China's import sophistication are real national income,investment in fixed assets,R&D investment,export trade and FDI.China IPR protection did not pass the test may be due to insufficient protection for IPR.
