The Characteristics And Influence Factors Of Sophistication Of China’s High Technology Industry Exports

Since the reform and opening up, China’s economic construction has achieved greatsuccess, exports have made great contribution to the economic construction. Exports areincreasing, and the export trade structure has changed dramatically, the rapid development ofhigh technology industry has become a symbol of China’s export structure optimization. In therecent years, although the total export is increasing, the export structures are improve, thefocus of attention is transferring from the quantity of export to quality of it, the importantthing is not how many we export any more but what we export.In order to analysis of changes in the sophisticationof China’s exports of high-techindustry and international status, this research begins based on the Hausmann (2007) model inthe subject to the1996-2011data of29countries, and measure the sophistication measure ofChina’s high-tech manufacturing exports. According my research: the export of hightechnology industry in China is not only lower than the complexity of the developed countriessuch as Japan, but also lower than the national Poland economic restructuring and Asianemerging economies of South Korea. China runs with a big high technology industry insteadof a modern one. From the specific industry point of view, China’s medical equipment andinstrument manufacturing EXPY are growing rapidly, the electronic computer and officeequipment manufacturing EXPY growth is relatively slow, pharmaceutical manufacturingindustry, electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry is in steady growthin EXPY.Influencing factors, from the independent innovation and technology transfer both startto analyze the education, research and development complex on exports, imports and FDI,select affecting export complex influencing factors analysis and gray correlation analysismethod analyzed: from the high-tech industry as a whole, the upgrade of the sophistication ofChina’s exports of high-tech industry from technology transfer, rather than independentinnovation. This is the main reason why China’s high-tech industry is "big but not high,".From the point of industry segments, FDI pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical equipmentand instrument manufacturing, computer and office equipment manufacturing, and medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing export commodities technical content changes,imports and R&D in these play a more important role in the improvement of thesophisticationof the industry’s export, the role of education these several industries is afundamental role.Through the analysis we concluded that the degree of technology transfer has asignificant impact on technical sophistication of exports of high-tech industry in China, butthe export of a country’s high-tech industry rely more on self-innovation, especially, on thecapability of digestion, absorption and re-innovation.
