An Application Of The Two-factor Theory Of Recreation Satisfaction At Open Space

The living standards improved as economic and social had developed,therefore urban residents show the urgent need for open spaces and a higher requirement for leisure service.However,the planning and construction of recreational open space depends on what the government and the city need,not the urban residents.As a consequence,recreational open space doesn't make a contribution to health as it should.Studies of recreation satisfaction at open space,identifying the key factors determining satisfaction and the relationship between destination attributes are of great significance,as they would help for the rational planning of recreational open space,meeting the increasing leisure requirements of urban residents and promoting the coordinated development of economic and social health.Based on the two-factor theory,we chose infrastructure,safety,recreation environment,accessibility and service as hygiene factors,while landscape quality and humanistic characteristics as motivation factors.And then we analyzed the relationships and impacts among destination attributes,recreation satisfaction and leisure behavior via structural equation modeling(SEM)in a sample of Nanning.The findings of the study reveal that both hygiene factors and motivation factors have significant positive impacts on recreation satisfaction,while the impact of hygiene factors is greater than motivation factors.And also,hygiene factors have a positive effect on motivation factors.According to the results and the actual situation of Nanning,as to improve the satisfaction and utilization of recreational open space,we put forward two suggestions as follows.Focus on the hygiene factors,improve the accessibility and usability of recreational open space,and create a relaxed and harmonious recreational atmosphere.And then development the motivation factors,enhance the humanistic attraction and natural attraction of recreational open space.This paper can be divided into three parts.The first part,including chapter 1-3,is the theoretical basis,in which we selected the factors affecting satisfaction and the analytical method of the study according to literature review and two-factor theory,and then constructed the theoretical model of satisfaction.The second part,including chapter 4,is the empirical part of research,in which we designed the questionnaire,collected the data,and then the theoretical model was tested,modified and analyzed.The third part,including chapter 5-6,is the conclusion of the study,in which we put the suggestions to improve the satisfaction and utilization of recreational open space,and finally drew a conclusion and pointed out the weakness and the field of research in the future.
