As a time-tested theoretical management system, LEAN Manufacturing hasborn advantages on cost reduction, waste elimination, quality improvement and maximize outputs with minima input. We are seeing a widely used of LEAN Manufacturing in domestic traditional manufacturing industries with good result, but only a very beginning in semiconductor manufacturing industry without successful example or the experience for reference. The world class Semiconductor manufacture Company R established its first Asian factory in Dalian and brought in advanced technology, management concepts as well as top-ranking workforce which make it a perfect representative research object.The paper started with analysis of LEAN theories include tools, core values and LEAN principles, followed by the analysis of a bunch of challenges R Company is facing in its LEAN journey to find out the root cause. And proposed the improvement plan on culture, manpower utilization, equipment performance as well as cost of spare parts to continual improving on aspect of productivity, equipment efficiency, cycle time, as well as factory cost reduction. The paper also discussed on aspects of concept, quality, organization, process as supporting measures of improvement effect. The paper has certain value on academic and practical with the reality of few of research on LEAN in semiconductor industry research method of experiential summary, quantity analysis and case study are used in this thesis.
