An Analysis Of Regional Industry Productivity In China

The industry economy is a country economic system's core, the industry economy development to China in the reforming process has profound and the long-term influence. In the long time, China will still be in the industrialization stage, the industry economy growth condition will have direct impact to Chinese economic growth. Therefore, the analysis of industry economic growth appears the exceptionally important.Based on panel data from 30 provinces in the 1991-2003 periods, this paper uses Malmquist index method which is based on Data Envelopment Analysis to decompose the Industrial TFP growth rate and investigate its character in respect of technical efficiency and technical progress.The results indicate that the average growth rate of Chinese industry is mainly due to the improvement of the technical progress, the decline of productive efficiency has affected the growth of TFP adversely. There are obvious different growth of TFP between east, centre, and west regions of China, the difference of technology progress between regions is one of the important factors caused regional TFP divergence.The first part gives an explanation of the title of this paper and looks back on relative researches. The second part introduces the development of economic growth theory and TFP researches. The third part introduces research method. The fourth part analyzes the result of model computation.
