The Research Of Guanxi Deviate Behavior Under The Context Of Chinese Culture

Guanxi has a special status in Chinese society,which is a double-edged sword".With the development of economy and society,the special resource did not disappear,but so many people benefit from it,however,when guanxi meet part of the people's demands of the interests,it is based at the expense of the other people and organization at the same time,and even at the cost of the interests of the society.deviate behavior related to guanxi is a kind of negative organizational behavior,which has a critically negative impact on social development.Since 2015,the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Central Committee of the CPC has made inspection tours of state-owned enterprises many times to expose and crack down such behaviors as close breeding and engaging in the transfer of benefits for the relatives and other acts.The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Sate Council of China issued the �Guidance of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Sate Council of China about the deepening of the reform of State-owned enterprises� which requires to overhaul "four winds" problem strictly,build the mechanism of anti-corruption of state owned enterprises.Therefore,the deviate behaviors that violate organizational norms based on guanxi and damage the interests of others have gradually exposed in the light of social monitoring and organization regulation,and these behviors are highly concerned by the stakeholders of the organization.In this context,the paper researches on the deviate behaviors related to guanxi.Firstly,based on the literature review,the method of grounded theory is used to carry out the concept extraction in the process of open coding,axial coding and selective coding.On the one hand,through in-depth interviews with 30 managers,we can find out the specific forms and contents of the guanxi deviate behavior in the organization practices to extract the relevant concepts;On the other hand,by searching and sorting out the relevant documents from four large databases,the related concepts are extracted and the categories,the main categories and the core categorie are determined.Secondly,an operationalization study about the guanxi deviate behavior is conducted,which is that according to the structure dimension of the guanxi deviate behavior,using the methods of questionnaire investigation and factor analysis,the guanxi deviate behavior scale with good reliability and validity is made by using SPSS20.0 Chinese version and Liseral8.7 to analysis data.Lastly,this paper analyzes the causes of guanxi deviate behavior and probes into the negative influence of the guanxi deviate behavior.The main conclusion drawn are as follows:(1)Guanxi deviate behavior is a kind of behavior using guanxi in negative organizational behavior,which refers to such behaviors that exploit guanxi to gain profits for individuals or organisations and that violate norms,policies,principles and even national laws.(2)The paper finds through a grounded theory study that there are three dimensions of guanxi deviate behavior: guanxi bribery behavior,irregular connected transaction behavior and guanxi allied behavior.Guanxi bribery behavior refers to behavior that exploits guanxi to ask others for profits or to passively accept benefits from others,and it can be divided into active and passive guanxi bribery behavior.Irregular connected transaction behavior refers to the behavior whereby,utilising the power of organisational guanxi,a member of the organisation violates organisational norms and breaks organisational procedures,which ultimately leads to unfair transaction results,and it can be classified as guanxi shortcut behavior or guanxi murkiness behavior.Guanxi alliance behavior refers to the behavior whereby members of the organisation forge an alliance based on nepotism,in which alliance members compromise principles and illegally gain profits for other alliance members,and it includes guanxi clinging,guanxi shelter and guanxi priority.(3)Guanxi deviate behavior scale,consisting of 3 dimensions and 23 items,is developed,which has undergone the reliability test and validity test.
