The year2012witnessed the career beginning of the majority of post-90s generation, namely, the generation born between the year1990and1999. Nevertheless, according to the surveys conducted by a few domestic renowned human resources service providers, post-90s employees have received wide attention and even bitter criticism for their striking turnover rate in recent years. According to the survey of China Talent Hotline, among the employees quitting the job in the first half of2013, half are under28years old. To be more specific, half are post-80s and post-90s. Besides, after one-year of employment, more than50%of the post-90s employees quit their job.Various reasons are said to account for the high turnover rate of post-90s generation. However, in a contrast to the previous generation of employees, post-90s employees tend to attach more importance to the guanxi situation in a company. What’s more, the guanxi study in business has recently been a popular academic interest to scholars. As a traditional guanxi-oriented society, China has witnessed the penetrating impacts of guanxi in various aspects. Thus, the guanxi study in general has also received widespread attention from domestic and overseas scholars."Guanxi" is even included as part of current English vocabulary and gets widely used. This thesis targets at post-90s employees in foreign-owned enterprises located in China and conducts an empirical study of whether and how guanxi would exert an impact on the turnover intention of post-90s employees. This thesis, grounded upon previous literature review and study outcomes, integrates the theory of guanxi, job embeddedness and turnover intention and constructs a theoretical model by adopting the four dimensions of guanxi (affective guanxi, obligational guanxi, instrumental guanxi and etiquette guanxi) as independent variables, job embeddedness as mediating variable and turnover intention as dependent variable. Moreover, this study accumulates data by giving out questionnaires both online and offline and reaches relevant conclusions by adopting SPSS and AMOS software to perform data analysis and model verfification.Through the empirical study, this thesis argues that for the post-90s employees in foreign-owned enterprises located in China, the four dimensions of guanxi is negatively correlated with turnover intention and this negative correlation is realized through the mediating effect of job embeddedness. To be more specific, job embeddedness exerts complete mediating effect between affective guanxi, obligational guanxi, instrumental guanxi and turnover intention and exercises partial mediating effect between etiquette guanxi and turnover intention.
