Logistics in the western developed countries is the third profit source to reduce costs and to improve the service level of technique.Logistics outsourcing is the effective means to improve speed,material circulation to save the logistics costs and reduce capital overstock,and it has got rapid development currently on a global scale.However,although the logistics outsourcing can really bring both sides benefit of supply and demand,but in practice,logistics outsourcing are struggling,the failure of the enterprise logistics activity not only originated from some difficulties in the process of its implementation or an accident,but also most likely rooted in inappropriate outsourcing decisions.According to the resource-based theory,logistics outsourcing is a strategic choice,can make up for the defect of enterprises on logistics resources and ability.Enterprises can reduce in logistics equipment through implement logistics outsourcing,logistics management and logistics operation of capital investment,so as to put the limited resources into the core competence and core business enterprise can make full use of the resources of third party logistics enterprises significantly reduce logistics cost and improve the efficiency of logistics operation and customer service levels.Based on the Institutional theory and Resource-based View,this study develops a theoretical framework for the user enterprise that how to improve logistics performance through logistics outsourcing.Using 250 survey data collected by subsidiary of the China's listed manufacturing companies,we examine the relationship between institutional pressure,top management support,staff skills similarity,information system integration and business logistics performance.The results indicate that only normative pressure would have a significant effect for both dimension of high-level support,and imitate pressure affects only the top managers outsourcing's trust;top management belief does not play a significant effect on improving the degree of staff skills similarity and information system integration,the user enterprise can significantly improve its staff skills similarity and information system integration in turn significantly improve the cost and service performance only through top management's participation and leadership.At last,we conclude by highlighting the managerial implication and suggestion about how to successfully implement the logistics outsourcing in China.This study not only complement the institutional theory and resource-based theory in logistics outsourcing area,but also made a thorough research of the key factors in outsourcing decision and operational performance,the conclusion has a certain reference significance to enterprise logistics outsourcing strategy.
