A Study On Survival Strategy Of Tech Start-ups In The Perspective Of Contingency Theory

The article adopt the method of field study,taking 7 incubating enterprises as examples,aiming at explaining how Tech start-ups adopt contingency behavior to attain its survival and development,effected by internal and external environment,by using contingency theory from Sociology of Organization.Based on the analysis of the interview data,this article described and evaluated the contingency behavior of Tech start-ups,and then discussed the factors which led to the contingency behavior.In the end,this article put forward improvement suggestions for the incubator and Tech start-ups.The study found that Tech start-ups adopt contingency strategy in dealing with the relation in the incubator and in its own operation.Survival strategy is the results of the match of external environment and internal needs.By integrating requirements of the environment,objective of the organization and the personal goals,Tech start-ups can improve its stability and independence,and then use less cost to attain more resources and living space.To be specific,enterprise characteristics factor,time and organizational objective factor,personnel quality factor and cost factor have an effect on survival strategy of Tech start-ups collectively.The survival strategy is just the passive response but not the active creation to the environment.There is no right or wrong about the results of contingency behavior of the Tech start-ups,but problem that the weak relationship between startups makes the synergistic effect hard to make a difference and the recruitment lacks support requires our concern.The article attempts to put forward constructive suggestion for the improvement of service capabilities of the incubator itself and the development of the Tech start-ups.In order to improve incubating capabilities,the incubator should make its own positioning clear and pay attention to fostering entrepreneurship of entrepreneurs.For better survival,Tech start-ups should pay attention to the needs of the middle management,and strengthen construction of cohesion of team members while doing better in the reserve of talents,retaining talents.
