| Disruptive innovation is an effective way to help firms obtain,maintain,or enhance their competitiveness,and has attracted widespread attention from academia and industry.Disruptive innovation is a complex process involving many stakeholders and requires firms to manage the relationships with their stakeholders.In recent years,the phenomenon of disruptive innovation from the stakeholder perspective has gradually emerged.High-tech firms are more likely to adopt disruptive innovation strategies as an important innovation subject in the construction of a modern economic system.With the rapid development of science and technology,the cycle of formation and diffusion of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms has been shortening day by day,gradually showing a trend of integration.Especially the stakeholder perspective,the disruptive innovation process on high-tech firms involves a broader range of stakeholders,the stakeholder relationships that should be managed are more complex,the disruptive innovation process is more susceptible to the impact of technological and market environments,and the formation and diffusion of disruptive innovation are also more closely linked.However,there is a lack of research on the mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective,requiring urgent theoretical refinement and innovation of this emerging phenomenon.Therefore,based on stakeholder theory,disruptive innovation,and contingency theory,this paper investigates the mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective.This paper mainly carries out the following four studies.Firstly,a case study research method is used to construct the theory model of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective.The data was collected from semi-structured interviews with 18 senior managers or R&D managers from 7 high-tech firms,and it was supplemented by secondary data from multiple sources.Using grounded theory data analysis method,this paper identifies the key influencing factors of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective and constructs the theory model.According to the theory model,disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective is divided into two stages: formation and diffusion,and the stakeholders and its effect paths corresponding to the key influencing factors in these two stages are clarified.Secondly,using empirical research method,this paper investigates the formation mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective.This paper investigates the direct effect mechanisms of corporate social responsibility(CSR),including internal CSR and external CSR,on disruptive innovation,as well as the moderating effect mechanisms of environment turbulence(technological turbulence and market turbulence)on the abovementioned relationships.This paper conducts hypotheses testing and results discussion based on 226 questionnaires collected in two stages.The results indicate that external CSR and internal CSR are positively related to disruptive innovation,technological turbulence positively moderates the relationship between external CSR,internal CSR and disruptive innovation,while market turbulence negatively moderates the relationship between external CSR and disruptive innovation.Thirdly,using empirical research method,this paper investigates the diffusion mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective.This paper investigates the direct effect mechanisms of disruptive innovation on firm performance,the mediating effect mechanisms of innovation speed and innovation quality,and the moderating mechanisms of market-supporting institutions.This paper conducts hypotheses test and results discussion using 207 data collected by a two-stage questionnaire survey.The results show that disruptive innovation is positively related to firm performance,innovation speed and innovation quality play a mediating role in the relationship between disruptive innovation and firm performance,and market-supporting institutions positively moderate the relationship between innovation speed and firm performance.Finally,based on the results of case study and empirical studies,this paper put forwards promotion strategies of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective.Specifically,for the promotion strategies of the formation of disruptive innovation,this paper put forwards the strategies of undertaking external CSR and fulfilling internal CSR.For the promotion strategies of the diffusion of disruptive innovation,this paper put forwards the strategies of attaching importance to disruptive innovation,improving innovation speed,and enhancing innovation quality.For the promotion strategies of contextual factors on disruptive innovation,this paper put forwards the strategies of adapting to technological turbulence,paying attention to market turbulence,and applying market-supporting institutions.On a theoretical level,this paper investigates the mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective and constructs a corresponding theoretical model,thereby expanding the theoretical perspective of disruptive innovation.Conversely,based on stakeholder theory and contingency theory,this paper reveals the formation and diffusion mechanisms of disruptive innovation on high-tech firms from the stakeholder perspective,thus enriching related research on disruptive innovation,stakeholder theory,and contingency theory.On the practical level,this paper provides a reference for high-tech firms to fully understand and control the disruptive innovation process,thereby effectively promoting the formation and diffusion of disruptive innovation. |
