With the global economic integration and the rapid development of international trade, container throughput has a rapid growth momentum.Chinese container terminals have been constantly evolving and constructing, the hardware conditions of container terminals as scale and equipment have been more perfect, but the software lacks syste-matic,modern job planning and scheduling approach.Container terminal yard is the place for exchanging, storage and stockpiling of import and export containers.Rational allocation and utilization of container yard's equipment resources has become a yard dispatcher's key issue.Export container stock-piling is an important part of container terminal operations, its operation fluency and ability directly affect the container terminals in operational efficiency and effectiveness, how to effectively avoid or reduce the occurrence of container relocation has become the key to improve the operational efficiency of container yard.On the basis of summarizing the research achievements in this field, this paper discusses the container yard business process in detail, and the storage principle of the export container in container terminal in the actual operation.Based on the principle of piling such as bay distance requirements for placing container belongs to the same ship, containers weight level priority ranking etc, this paper establishes two stage program-ming model of optimal stockpiling.According to the model,a heuristic algorithm for solving the model is designed.A series of numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed optimization model and the algorithm.
