In the past few years we have seen the improvement of market economics and the globalization of the trade.The development makes the logistics and transportation more and more important, particularly in the marine transportation systems. These systems include the networks of container terminals around globe that allow manufactures and shippers to deliver goods quickly to their customers. These terminals serve as hubs for the transshipment of containers from ship to ship or to other modes of transportation. To cope with increasing traffic demands and decreasing profit margins the terminal management needs to improve the resource allocation, to reduce operation costs, thereby to increase the efficiency of terminal operational logistics.As the main part of the container terminal, terminal yard is a zone specially for storing containers, which plays a very important role in the whole container terminal operational logistics,This thesis, applying the integral view, studies on the resource allocation of container terminal yard.Firstly, this thesis studies the problem of terminal yard space resource allocation and machinery resource allocation in a systematic way that is integrated with system concept.Secondly, the dynamic allocation model and method for yard space resource allocation at container terminal in mixing store condition, are studied and presented.Thirdly, a dynamic linear programming model of yard machine allocation is presented. The HA based Lagrangean Relaxation Algorithm and its further algorithm as well as the analysis of its performance are given. The model is established on the basis of the multiple objects.Finally, a case is given to show the application of the theory and methods into the Third Branch of Ningbo Beilun container terminal. The thesis analyzes the yard machine resource allocation of the Third Branch of Ningbo Beilun container terminal. Some conclusions and suggestions are also proposed for the yard resource allocation.The main point of innovation is as follows:(1) This thesis studies the problem of terminal yard resource allocation in a systematic way that is integrated with system concept in order to increase the efficiency of port.(2) The dynamic allocation model and method for yard space resource allocation at container terminal in mixing store condition, are studied and presented.(3) A dynamic linear programming model of yard machine allocation on the basis of the multiple objects is presented. The HA based Lagrangean Relaxation Algorithm and its further algorithm as well as the analysis of its performance are given.This thesis applies the optimization technology and the mathematic theory as well as methodologies like Heuristic Algorithm to study the resource allocation problem of container terminal yard. It provides some valuable suggestions and help for container terminals.
