Developing for over hundreds of years,private banking tends to become a new business strategy in China with its traits of small risk,low capital occupation and high profit.At the same time,It's turning to be a focus in the academic circle.Although the private banking business has been developing for around 10 years,there are still many deficiencies existing.As a result,the thesis determine to make the study of the products and service of private banks from the angle of preferences of investment of high net worth individuals.This thesis used the methods of literature review,summary analysis,combination of qualitative and quantitative research.Use the data to analyze preferences of investment,make it clear about the underlying problems of the products and service of private banks,then,offer available strategic solutions.In the thesis,we defined the high net worth individuals as those who possess investable assets over six million.As the high privacy of private banking business,the thesis partly used the statistics coming from the existed reports while researching the preferences of investment.The stage conclusion turned out that the HNWIs have increasingly multiple investment preferences,giving significance to wealth security and inheritance,and at the same time,they are more fond of doing overseas investment.After that,the thesis did the research on factors which have influence on such investment preferences.Later,with looking up the information of all 22 private banks in China,and selecting the most typical 6 ones,the thesis analyzed the deficiencies occurred in today's Chinese private banks in terms of its products and services.We can see that there are three defects in the products and services from Chinese private banks when it is directing to particular investment preferences of Chinese HNWIs:inefficient team construction,undeveloped overseas investment layout and incomplete value-added services.Lastly,on the basis of the analysis of the investment preferences of Chinese HNWIs,the thesis came up with few strategies,aiming to resolve the problems in the supply of products and services of Chinese private banks.The recommendations are as follows.First,conduct multidimensional customer segmentation.Second,enhance the professional level of the service team.Third,build open-ended products platform.Four,optimize multinational financial service platform.Five,offer more superior value-added services.
