A Study Of The Spiritual Experience Of Haji Hajj Travel

The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam,every adult Muslim who can afford it with a good health has the obligation to pilgrimage to Mecca Kaaba.Cleaning themselves from every sin and set them free through this sacred pilgrimage,pilgrims.They become hajis and gain the new lease of life just like a newborn.Because of the level of economic and social development,there are few Muslims who are able to arrive in the Mecca in history.In recent years,with the rapid development of economic society and continual improvement of living standards,the number of Muslim pilgrims have increased in our country.Accordingly,many scholars pay much attention to research the special Muslim pilgrims group and Muslim pilgrimage.Hajj is considered to be one of the earliest forms of tourism.The pilgrim of religious believers includes sightseeing,traveling,and in some cases,temporary residence in different places and buying souvenirs.All these activities can promote local economy development.Otherwise,they also need leisure time,a certain amount of income and so on,which are consonant with other ordinary tourists.However,studies of religious tourism are mainly focused on application research in China,such as planning and exploitation of the religious tourist resource,the development and management of religious tourism,etc.Few scholars focused on personal experiences and spiritual harvest of Haji during the pilgrim.The research selected Xiaomavillage of Henan province as the study region.Through in-depth interviewing haji,the study based on phenomenological approach,encoded the content of the interview and analyzed the travel experience and the spiritual experience of haji with qualitative analysis software Nvivo11.Then,the paper explore the relationship between each category and the deep-rooted structure of pilgrimage experience,and provide a new perspective for the study of Muslim pilgrimage and enrich the theoretical research in relevant area,such as religious tourism and spiritual experience of tourist.Through the research we found the following conclusions:(1)The Hajj travel experience includes 6 categories:spiritual experience,pilgrimage life experience,emotional experience,personal experience,shrine complex and cultural experience.Among them,the frequency of spiritual experience was significantly higher than other categories in the interview,and the rest of the experience categories are closely related to the spiritual experience.It is found by the above-mentioned results that:spiritual experience is the core of Hajj experience.(2)Spiritual experience of Hajj consists of 5 concepts:firm faith,self-transcendence,meanings of pilgrimage,life perception and communitas.Though depth analyze the frequency and structure of each concept in the category of spiritual experience,it is found that the dimensions of spiritual experience can trigger,interact and transform each other.And the core of the spiritual experience of the Haji pilgrimage is firm faith,self-transcendence and meanings of pilgrimage.These 3 concepts are also the meanings and the pursuit of the Haji during their pilgrimage.(3)There is a close connection between the religious ritual and the spiritual experience of pilgrimage.Through lots of religious rituals during the Hajj,the pilgrims produced plentiful and multi-dimensional spiritual experience.The ritual is the key factor in the whole process of pilgrimage,and is also an important carrier of spiritual experience.(4)The spiritual experience of the pilgrims during the Hajj provides them with a strong sense of pleasure and happiness,and then it can reverse the negative and negative factors from the outside world,and make them have a positive and positive perception.In addition,the spiritual perception and promotion also dissolve the guilt,fear,resentment and other negative emotions,and they are more positive when examine things and problems.(5)The unique personal experiences of pilgrims will affect their experience,and redefine the meaning of pilgrim for their lives.Furthermore,it is also likely to urge them to generate more insights about life and the deep spiritual experience.
