Information and communication technology became the leading force in the global economic development, will continue to lead and promote the global economic development at least in the next 20 years. With the development of information and communication technology, the Internet has been widely used. The Internet has brought great impact and change to the economy at the same time, deservedly become the 21st century information and communication technology, the most far-reaching technology. The development of information technology, especially the development of the Internet, reduces the cost of information for enterprises. Can China's industrial enterprises reduce the cost of information to promote the export of enterprises? Is the reduction of enterprise information cost mainly reflected in "extensive margin" or"intensive margin"?Based on the questionnaire survey of Chinese enterprises in 2012,the paper uses Heckman two-stage selection model to examine the impact of the reduction of information cost on the export behavior of Chinese industrial enterprises. The results show that the reduction of the information cost of Chinese industrial enterprises has a positive effect on the expansion of exports, and the firm's intensive margin is uncertain. This shows that the reduction of the information cost of Chinese industrial enterprises on the growth of export trade is mainly reflected in the extensive margin.Using the instrumental variable to control the endogeneity, the above conclusions are still valid. This article has five main contents.Chapter 1 is the introduction, mainly discusses the research background, the research significance and the reference information about the information cost at home and abroad, clarifies the research thought, the structure arrangement and the research method, and discusses the innovation and the insufficiency of the paper.Chapter 2 is the status quo of China's industrial exports and the development of the Internet. This paper introduces the status quo of China's industrial export trade from two aspects:the total scale of trade and export trade of China's industrial products. At the same time,it introduces the development of the Internet and the use of the Internet in the enterprise, which has had a great impact on China's foreign trade.Chapter 3 is the theoretical basis of the paper.Firstly, the concept of information cost and dual margin is defined. Then, the theory of enterprise heterogeneity is introduced. Finally, the enterprise export strategy based on Melitz model is introduced. The cost of information may affect one or both of the iceberg trade cost and the fixed export cost. Therefore, the cost of information has a positive impact on the extensive margin, and the influence on the intensive margin is uncertain.Chapter 4 is the empirical analysis of the impact of information costs on the export of Chinese industrial enterprises.Based on the World Bank's questionnaire survey of Chinese enterprises in 2012,the Heckman two-stage selection model was used to investigate the impact of the reduction of information cost on the export behavior of Chinese industrial enterprises. The results show that the reduction of the information cost of Chinese industrial enterprises has a positive effect on the extensive margin of exports, and the uncertainty about the firm's intensive margin.Chapter 5 is the conclusion and policy recommendations section of this paper.Combined with theoretical derivation and empirical analysis of the results to give some policy recommendations. The possible innovations in this paper are mainly in the following four aspects:First, the new new trade theory in the domestic research is still rare, its guiding value to China's foreign trade cannot be ignored. For this reason, this paper based on the existing theoretical framework, with the Chinese manufacturing industry micro Data on the latest international trade theory involved in the export of enterprises to verify, with theoretical and practical significance.Second, there is little literature on the impact of information costs on corporate export behavior, and the relationship between information and exports is studied from a macro perspective, which may ignore many of the specific factors in industry and business. This paper studies the impact of information costs on the export behavior of Chinese enterprises from the data at the enterprise level.Third, the traditional international trade theory will be the expansion of existing products(intensive margin)as the only source of export growth, the new trade theory to increase the type of export products(extensive margin)as a source of trade growth. The heterogeneity trade model of enterprises is inseparable from the progress of theory and experience and the study of dual margin. This paper studies the influence of information cost on the export dual margin in the framework of enterprise heterogeneity.Fourth, based on the characteristics of data and research issues, most companies do not choose to export,if the direct rejection of these samples will produce sample selection bias.In this paper,we choose the Heckman model to analyze, which can avoid the use of ordinary least squares method may lead to sample selection errors, but also can distinguish between information costs on corporate export decisions and export volume of the impact of the difference.
