Even mountains and seas cannot distance people with common aspirations.Alth-ough China and Africa are geographically thousands of miles apart, their friendly connections have been maintained for two thousand years which can be traced back to the period of Emperor Wu of Han.Being an important part of China-Africa relations, the economic and trade cooperation has made impressive achievements in different historical stages.Sino-African economic and trade cooperation has attained unprecedented achievements ever since the establishment of co-operation forum in 2000,especially after Beijing summit in 2006.In November,2006,Representatives from 48 African countries participated in the Beijing Summit of China-Africa Co-operation Forum,China and Africa nations reached agreements on political equality, mutual trust, economic win-win cooperation and cultural exchange which formed a new type of strategic partnership at the summit.Besides,it is generally agreed and appreciated by the the participating nations to set up a China-Africa development cooperation funds, economic and trade cooperation zone, agriculture demonstration center at the summit. Both parties reached agreements on principles about equality, voluntariness, mutual benefit and win-win progress and people-oriented development, which is also called"Beijing Consensus" " Regarded as a "fate community",both sides follow the Beijing Consensus in the development of solidarity, therefore achieving the economic and trade cooperation of multi-level and wide-field,and promoting the vigorous development of strategic partnership.Sino-Africa economic and trade has complied with the development of economic globalization trend, has met the requirements of China's"going out" strategy, has realized China's manufacturing capacity, and has also realized China's increasing demand for energy as well as resources.China has become the first largest trading partner in Africa.Economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa has brought not only capital, technology and management experience to the African, but also new opportunity for improving infrastructure construction, promoting manufacturing, and realizing industrialization and economic integration. Both sides make full use of complementarity of economic development, thus promoting mutual development.However,Sino-African economic and trade cooperation is not plain sailing, but faces severe challenges in the new international political and economic situation. For example,"new colonialism" claimed by western countries smear China on purpose;the rise of emerging developing countries intensifies competition and trade friction problems which is brought about by malicious competition and less attention to the quality of products in individual enterprises. Moreover, local political conflict among African countries and poor power shortage problem makes new challenges.Analysis for these problems are required and countermeasures are to be provided. We need to:strengthen the cooperation with western countries via a third party, but prevent free-riding behavior and prevent those who try to set the rules for China-Africa economic and trade relations;face contradictions positively, actively resolve trade friction, adhere to the "smart" investment, improve the national soft power, and set up good image in the world.African countries can strengthen own construction, seize the opportunities brought by economic globalization, deepen the north-south dialogue and south-south cooperation.
