An Empirical Research Of The Effect Of The Enterprise Scale,R&D Investment On Enterprise Survival

Since Aride de Geus released the longevity company in 1998,longevity business gradually attracted a widespread attention from industry and academia.Nowadays,the research about the survival of enterprises in academic usually focuses on the qualitative research.In addition,the study object often focuses on longevity companies.We can see that the current research methods and objects have are some limitations.Based on the theory of Resource-based theory and Endogenous growth theory,the paper chooses two key factors influencing on the survival of enterprises--enterprise scale and R&D investment to explore the business survival.The research of enterprise scale focused on the short-term perspective of business in terms of theoretical research,andThe relationships of R&D investment and business relationship have different views.In order to clearly analyze and validate the relationships between enterprise scale,R&D investment and enterprise survival,we collect 3157 listed companies of US as data samples.In addition,combining the research questions and data characteristics,we draws on the Function COX regression method commonly used in Biomedical Science to analyze the relationship between firm size,R&D investment and enterprise survival.This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction.This part introduces the background of the study,the statement of the research questions,the research content and frame,the research method and meaning.The second part is the literature review.We firstly summarize the status quo of the research on the existence of enterprises at home and abroad,and then summarize the representative theory of enterprise survival,namely,Resource-based theory and Endogenous growth theory,the summary of enterprise scale,the summary of the relationships between R&D investment and enterprise continuity.On one hand,we can find problems of current research,on the other hand we can make preparations for the following researchThe third part puts forward three research hypotheses of the study through theoretical analysis.The fourth part is empirical research.This part introduces the Explained variable,explanatory variables and control variables involved in the study,and puts forward the theoretical model(proportional risk model)of the study,and then explains the sample sources and data processing process.The fifth part is the empirical analysis.SPSS analysis tools were used to analyze the sample data,PH hypothesis(proportional risk hypothesis)verification,COX regression analysis,and analyze and explain the statistical results.The study shows that the larger the scale of enterprises is,the greater the probability of enterprise survival is.The more R&D investment the company puts in,the greater probability of enterprise survival is.And the R&D investment plays a part of the intermediary role between the enterprise scale and business survivalThe last part of the study is a summary,which draws the research conclusions and enlightenments,analyzes the shortcomings of the study,provide the appropriate references and clues for the future research in the area.The innovations of the study are as follows:(1)the study sort out the logical relationships between firm size,R&D investment and enterprise survival.(2)The research of enterprise existence in existing research is mainly based on qualitative research instead of quantitative study,the study uses empirical research methods to analyze the survival of enterprises.(3)Through the literature collation,it is found that the research objects of the existing research are mostly concentrated among the longevity enterprises.This study will use the enterprises with different survival periods as the research samples,which makes the research of enterprise survival problem more universal.(4)In the research method,the study draws on the COX regression method which is commonly used in biomedical science to study the existence of the enterprise,and scientifically innovates the research method of enterprise existence and enriches the research of enterprise existence.
