Optimization Model For Express Company's Distribution Spots Locating And Unified Distribution In City

'the 13^th Five-Year Development Plan of Express Delivery Industry' proposed a theme that using resources effectively and environmental friendly.It calls for an innovation in parcels' delivery mode and to build up professional platform for parcels'end delivery,then working efficiency will be improved.Meanwhile,management efficiency can be improved by focusing on environmental friendly management,promoting technologies and apparatus applied in modern logistics industry.Based on the current delivery processes,this thesis does research on express company's distribution spots' locating and its operating mode in a city.It was discovered that franchises of an express company to and from 'city distribution center'deliver or fetch parcels independently,which make a hub-and-spoke transportation network.But this distribution mode's efficiency still has a large space to be improved.In this thesis,a new distribution spots' locations and operating mode adapted from present hub-and-spoke network have been designed through two steps.First,finding distribution spots in the 'parcels' distribution center' locating process to minimize the total cost consists of spots' fixed operating costs and parcels' delivery cost.Second,express company runs its own 'unified distribution centers',detaches distribution vans and determines service times for them.Let each van goes to 'parcels' distribution centers' standing along its routine one by one to discharge parcels and pickup those needed to be taken back.Testing optimization models with a practical example,it shows there will be less distribution spots in the new distribution network.Besides,distribution spots' total operating cost will also be lowered down.In the meantime,it can shorten total distribution distance but to improve vans' capacity utilization rate.After two-step optimization,the total operating cost is reduced.In the enterprise management aspect,it is the express company that takes charge of all distribution spots.So the entities in the distribution network has been reduced,namely to simplify organization structure.Unified distribution mode realizes economy of scale in vans' truck-road transportation process.Vans set out from 'unified distribution centers' on time according to time schedule so as to arriving at each 'parcels' distribution center' punctually,which ensure time accuracy and delivery stability.This improves service proficiency in a sense.Generally speaking,it demonstrates that current city distribution network of express company can be promoted and the new distribution network has advantages to be put into practice.
