Since the reform and opening.China's economy has developed rapidly and the quality of people's life has improved. This is a decisive period of building a moderately prosperous society.Nevertheless, gini coefficient is still above the warning line. The income inequality is still excessive.Unfair income distribution will cause social discontent. The issue of income distribution has become the key to building a moderately prosperous society, especially for rural areas in China. The social from all walks of life needs pay more attention on it.Study on the income distribution involves many aspects, the traditional method is to use gini coefficient or Theil index to analyze the income distribution between urban and rural areas or regions. In recent years, with the introduction of the method of income mobility, the discussion about income distribution is becoming more and more dynamic. This paper focuses on the analysis of the income distribution of rural residents in China from the perspective of income mobility. We also analyze the income mobility of middle-income groups and the positive impact of the increase of income mobility on expanding the proportion of middle-income group. This paper uses the per capita income of rural household tracking data of 1988-2010 year CHNS database to measure income transition matrix and analyze the rural residents' income mobility.Calculating income mobility index and analyzing rural residents' income mobility of China from different angles.Analyzing whether the increase of income mobility is beneficial to the expansion of the proportion of middle income groups or not. Finally with the help of econometric model to analyze the possible factors affecting the income mobility. From the perspective of income mobility to put forward some suggestions about expanding the proportion of middle-income group, reducing the income inequality of rural residents and improving the pattern of income distribution. The structure and main contents of the full text are as follows:Chapter one is the introduction.First, describing the background and significance of research on the income mobility of rural residents in China. Then from several aspects to comb the domestic and foreign research literature about income mobility. Finally, summarizes the research ideas, research methods, the possible innovations and shortcomings of this paper.Chapter two is the introduction of related concepts and calculation methods. This chapter focuses on the concept and calculation method of income mobility. This chapter also briefly introduces the concept and calculation method of the middle-income group, because the following fourth chapters analyze the income mobility of rural residents' different income groups. The calculation method of income mobility mainly include the transformation matrix, relative income mobility index, absolute income mobility index and Shorrocks index, generalized entropy income mobility measure index,P index. And the method of measuring the middle income group is mainly introduced partial sorting method accepted by the academic circle widely.Chapter three is the analysis of rural residents' income mobility. This chapter introduces the data sources of measuring income mobility of rural residents. Then, with the help of the per capita income of the 1988-2010 years' rural household tracking data, measuring five equal transition matrix of rural household. On the basis of the transition matrix, calculating income mobility indexes, such as the inertia rate, and the chi square index and so on.Combined with the absolute income mobility index to analyze the rural residents' income mobility. Then it uses income mobility indexs such as Shorrocks index,P index and the generalized entropy mobility measurement index and income inequality indexs such as gini coefficient and generalized entropy index to analyze the relationship between mobility and income inequality. Finally, analyze the structure of rural residents income mobility to find different income mobility direction and layer.Chapter four is the analysis of income mobility of rural residents' different income groups.Income mobility enhancement plays a positive role in alleviating the degree of income inequality. And a reasonable scale of low, middle and high proportion of different income groups especially the proportion of middle income groups expanding plays a positive role in narrowing the income inequality.Puts forward the importance of analyzing income mobility of rural residents' different income groups. Then analyzes the changes of the proportion of the different income groups using the partial sorting method, find that the proportion of low and middle income groups decreased while the proportion of high-income groups expanded.Calculate the average change rate and the average moving level based on income transition matrix of different income groups. Finally, the relationship between the income mobility index and the change of the proportion of the middle income groups is analyzed.Chapter five is the analysis of influencing factors of income mobility of rural residents.According to the different transition direction of income, the downward mobility is defined as-1,the non mobility is defined as 0,and the upward mobility is defined as 1.The three income mobility is interpreted as the explained variable. In terms of family demographic characteristics, human capital characteristics, initial income grade, family income type, family work characteristics, regional factors and so on as explanatory variables. Then establish a multinomial logit model to analyze the influence factors.Chapter six is the main conclusions and policy recommendations.Summarizing the above analysis, and put forward to some suggestions about improving the income level of rural residents and enhancing the mobility of income according to the results of the model analysis.
