With the development of the global economy, people concern more and more about the climate issues.Governments around the world have paid more attention to the use of renewable energy. As a representative, the photovoltaic industry has flourished in recent years. This article first researched the development history of the photovoltaic industry in the world and major countries, demonstrated the transition from the traditional energy to the era of sustainable development. In addition, the photovoltaic industry is also a policy-intensive industry. Then this paper sorted out the policies that countries promulgated in the world to promote photovoltaic industry. The policies,to a certain extent, can provide reference for our country.Since 2011,the foreign trade of China’s photovoltaic industry has begun to be suppressed by trade protection policies based on Europe and the United States. This article analyzes the impact of trade protection policies on the competitiveness of China’s photovoltaic products in the international market. The trade protection policy makes China’s photovoltaic products have lost their absolute dominant position in the international market, the export value has declined, and the operating benefits of enterprises have fluctuated.World –wide imitation will lead to the increase of trade barriers.During dealing with the trade frictions,China has also optimized the industrial structure of photovoltaic, expanded the international market and increased the attention on photovoltaic technology, which has,to some extent, increased the international competitiveness of photovoltaic products.Based on the COMPAS model, combined with China-US trade data in 2016,this article quantitatively analyzes the impact of anti-dumping and anti-bribery tariffs on China’s trade volume and market share in the US market. The conclusion shows that in the case of free trade, the number and volume of China’s photovoltaic products export to the U.S.will both increase more than double. The collection of anti-dumping and anti-bribery tariffs will have a huge impact on China’s photovoltaic industry’s competitiveness in the U.S.market.Finally,this paper combines the results of various parts, analyzes the prospects of China’s photovoltaic industry and puts forward policy recommendations. In the future,it is expected that the market share of Europe and the United States will be further reduced, and the prospects of emerging markets are broad. However,we must be alert to potential trade protectionism. As for policy recommendations, the article proposes the establishment of an effective international trade coordination mechanism, the establishment of a photovoltaic company responding fund, the implementation of trade diversification, and the development of domestic product market.
