The Yangtze River Economic Belt is rich in population resources,of which the downstream areas such as Shanghai and Jiangsu have always been the province's labor input provinces, and the upper and middle reaches of Anhui,Jiangxi,Sichuan, and Chongqing are the provinces of the labor force export.Compared with the downstream regions, the upstream and middle reaches of the economy are lagging behind, urbanization is lagging behind, and there is a large surplus of labor in rural areas.Under the stimulation of higher incomes,a large number of laborers will choose to transfer to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, such as Shanghai. However, with the rapid development of China's economy, the developed regions in the downstream have gradually faced the dual tasks of industrial transformation and upgrading and industrial transfer. The level of manufacturing concentration has been declining, and the demand for labor has been insufficient.Third, with the continuous transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry,Intensive industries gradually took a dominant position and imposed higher requirements on the quality and skills of the labor force, which further exerted a repelling effect on the rural labor force. The upstream and middle reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt acted as a support for the transfer of manufacturing industries in the downstream regions. The phenomenon of agglomeration has accelerated markedly, and the level of industrial agglomeration has further increased. The industries that they undertake are mostly labor-intensive industries, which gradually increase the absorption capacity of the labor force, and thus promote the transfer of labor to the upper reaches and the middle reaches. The development of industrial agglomeration is essentially a change in the industrial employment relationship. The continuous increase in the concentration of manufacturing space will inevitably cause a large-scale shift in the labor force. Therefore, industrial agglomeration has a strong absorption effect on the labor force. With the continuous strengthening of industrial agglomeration,large-scale labor transfer will become an irreversible social and economic phenomenon inChina's socio-economic transition. However,in this phenomenon, how industrial agglomeration promotes the transfer of labor deserves our in-depth understanding and analysis.Only by understanding the mechanism of the interaction between the two can we make reasonable allocation of labor resources in space and promote the coordinated development between urban and rural areas and regions. This paper aims to reveal the interaction between industrial agglomeration and labor transfer and the effect of industrial agglomeration on the transfer of rural labor force, using the related manufacturing data of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2001 to 2016,and combining with the Location quotient to statistically describe the manufacturing industry agglomeration status of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from the provincial and municipal levels.Based on the spatial Gini coefficient and the EG index,a statistical description of the agglomeration status of various industries in the Yangtze River Economic Belt manufacturing industry from the industry level was conducted; The status quo of transfer of rural labor force in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from the perspective of aggregate characteristics and transfer orientation is introduced.Second, starting with the theoretical basis and the study of the mechanism of action, through the analysis of the effect of industrial agglomeration on the transfer of labor, the transmission mechanism of industrial agglomeration to labor transfer is determined. Then this paper makes use of the panel data of the Yangtze River Economic Belt2001-2016,based on the fixed effect model and GMM analysis to empirically study industrial agglomeration and labor transfer from the regional level. The research results show that there is a nonlinear U-shape between industrial agglomeration and labor transfer, and industrial agglomeration has three thresholds; The level of economic development and transportation infrastructure negatively affect the transfer of labor. The level of urbanization, human capital and marketization are positively affecting the transfer of labor. In addition, based on the GMM analysis method,an empirical study was conducted on industrial agglomeration and labor transfer at various levels of the manufacturing industry. It was found that there is a non-linear U-shaped relationship between the manufacturing industry agglomeration level and the manufacturing industry labor force; And labor productivity negatively affects labor transfer, while industry scale positively affects labor transfer.Based on the above research,in order to promote the positive interaction between the agglomeration of the manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and thetransfer of the labor force, corresponding policy recommendations were proposed from the government level, regional level, and industry level.First, the government departments must strengthen the construction of the labor market and guarantee the rural labor force has successfully transferred;Second,it focuses on the development of a regional manufacturing industry and realizes the diversified development of the regional manufacturing industry.Third,it strengthens the training of rural laborers and improves the quality and skills of the labor force.
