Analysis On Pursuing Internationalization Of Chengdu

Against the backdrop of National Central City Strategy implementation,Chengdu,with strategic vision,has been enhancing its role as “five centers and one hub”,continuously improving the city’s general competitiveness,and accelerating the formation of world-class industrial system.Boosted by those efforts,Chengdu experienced rapid city development,and saw continuous growth of GDP aggregate and improved infrastructure.The city has become all the more internationalized with mixed charm radiated from its profound inherent culture,attracting a huge slew of talents.Chengdu is now drawing attention from home and abroad.In the context of globalization and Belt and Road Initiative implementation,Chengdu actively participates in global competition.Being internationalized does not only fit into the trend of times and reality,but also fall within national obligation and responsibility.Impressive as current city development may seem,there is still a huge gap between Chengdu and first-tier Chinese cities,not to mention world top cities.Internationalization of city is a dynamic process when one city interacts all the more intensively with other countries in various fields,and interconnects with the world all the more closely in terms of city functions.This thesis studies the laws and practices of internationalized cities citing cases of Tokyo,New York,London,Beijing,Singapore,and Hong Kong with reference to relevant theories.Using methods of empirical analysis,theoretic logic analysis,and quantitative model analysis,and referring to evaluation system of city internationalization,this thesis pinpoints problems hindering Chengdu’s internationalized development and offers solutions for it by making breakthroughs in adjusting industries’ structure,playing the role of national central city,accelerating the race of opening up and improving the national science parks,hoping to be referential.
