In recent years,with the rapid development of science and technology and the Internet,economic globalization is rapidly sweeping the globe.Under the call of policy and the exploration of enterprises themselves,the scale of Chinese enterprises' outbound investment has continued to expand.Unlike developed countries 'external expansion based on technological advantages,the main purpose of Chinese companies' international operations at this stage is to learn international advanced technology experience,obtain strategic resources,and promote the innovation and development of enterprises.However,there are still insufficient research and inconsistent conclusions about the effectiveness of "going global" and whether internationalization can bring about improvement in innovation performance.Based on the above background,this article describes the degree of internationalization of the company from the two dimensions of depth and breadth of the internationalization,and explores the impact of the degree of internationalization on the innovation performance of the company based on the resource-based theory and organizational learning theory.At the same time,it introduces the international experience and the academic background of the executive team as a moderator to study the influence of executive characteristics on the implementation of corporate strategy.The empirical analysis results show that: first,the increase in the depth of the company's internationalization can promote the improvement of innovation performance;second,the widening of the breadth of the company's internationalization can promote the improvement of innovation performance;third,the international experience of executives can positively regulate the company's international and has no regulating role in the relationship between the depth of enterprise internationalization and innovation performance;fourth,the academic background of executives can positively regulate the relationship between the breadth of internationalization and innovation performance of enterprises,and there is no moderating role in the relationship between the depth of internationalization and innovation performance.The research contribution of this article is mainly reflected in three aspects.First of all,taking Chinese companies as the research object,to explore the impact of internationalization on the innovation performance of companies in emerging countries,enriching the research in the field of internationalization.Secondly,the degree of enterprise internationalization is subdivided in two dimensions of depth and breadth,which further confirms the supporting role of resource-based theory and organizational learning theory on the relationship between enterprise internationalization and innovation performance.Finally,the introduction of international experience and academic background of executives as moderating variables has enriched the research on the contextual factors of the relationship between the degree of internationalization of enterprises and innovation performance,and broadened the application scope of social capital theory.In addition,this study also has the following practical implications.First,it has certain reference significance for enterprises to formulate international development plans rationally according to their own development status and characteristics;Second,introduce the characteristics of senior executives as moderating variables to provide a reference for the board of directors of international strategic enterprises to appoint senior executives.
