The Development Of Shale Gas In The United States And Its Impact On Energy Diplomacy

Entering 21 stcentury,with the development of exploiting technology of shale gas and oil,the production of shale gas and oil is growing rapidly.The exploiting and using of shale oil and gas make U.S position changed fundamentally in the field of energy.The United States has become the largest producer of natural gas and oil,which has a profound influence on the global energy structure and US energy diplomacy.This paper first defines the concept of shale gas,shale oil and shale revolution,as well as the development of the shale gas exploiting,summarizes the characteristic and the changes for the United States brought by shale gas exploiting,which is the basis of change of American foreign policy,including the change of United States' foreign policy on main strategic area and global energy diplomacy strategy.Finally,the conclusion was drawn: the shale revolution makes the United States in a dominant position in the energy field,the diplomatic strategy space for the Middle East,Russia and other traditional energy production area is larger,and for Asia and Europe and other traditional energy consumption area,in order to occupy the energy market,the United States is trying to maintain the economic relation with them.In addition,the shale gas exploiting has changed the world's energy supply and demand pattern as well as the energy consumption structure,making the United States have a stronger voice on global energy governance and climate issues,which play an important role in the development of energy diplomacy.
