Block C2 is located in Shwebo sub-basin of northern Central Burman basin to the east of Chindwin basin,to the west of Sagaing strike-slip fault and to the north of Pegu-Yoma basin. The area is about 26506km~2.Shwebo basin is Marginal marine arc superimposed basin, which is developed on the basis of Mesozoic stratum and covered with a thickness more than 20 km Cenozoic sediments which is the main oil and gas exploration target layer. At present, only Sabade-1 and AZY-1 two wells have been drilled in the block that Natural gas was found,so the exploration degree is low.According to the resource estimates, there is 200×10~8m~3 no proven recoverable reserves of natural gas in Shwebo basin that fully demonstrated its rich oil and gas resources and great exploration potential. In addition,Chinese oil companies implemented the"go global"strategy at that time,so the exploration potential evaluation of the area is an important link to create a new situation in overseas exploration,to reduce investment risk and to fill the partial research blank of the arc rear basin of the area, and it has important practical significance and theoretical value. The petroleum geological condition of Shwebo basin is superior, the source rock of Eocene stratum has reached maturity which has middle-low organic material abundance, large thickness, and good hydrocarbon generating conditions. At the same time, there are Eocene and Oligocene series 2 sets of favorable reservoir-seal assemblage in Shwebo basin. The mudstone of low Miocene as hydrocarbon source rocks, the quartz sandstone above the mudstone of Miocene as reservoir and the mudstone on the top of Miocene as cap rock together constitute the good source-reservoir-cap rock assemblage. In addition, the oil and gas of the the hydrocarbon source rock of low Miocene which is communicated by the fault activities migrated to the arkose quartzite sandstone of low Oilgocene, and was sealed by the thick mudstone on the top of Oilgocene.High porosity and permeability sandstone and active faults provide an effective channel for oil and gas migration, make oil and gas migrate to the shallow layer of the gentle slope.Because of the tectonic uplift of Miocene in the northern basin makes the main source rock deep burial and immature,at the same time, due to the coarse clastic deposits in late stage, there is the lack of cap rock, even if there is oil and gas migration to this area,it can not be effectively aggregated, also because the continuous sedimentation and little faults influence,no associated structure,it can not form trap and be effectively aggregated in the middle basin. In the western, eastern and southern parts of the basin, there have strong boundary fault activities, more new faults and associated structures are formed,so that the distribution of oil and gas in the area is concentrated.Because the influence of Sagaing strike slip fault, the Positive flower structure traps are formed in the eastern and southern parts of the basin, however,in the western basin, the faulted-anticline traps mainly distribute in the hanging wall of the faults of the arc fault zones.Through the recognition of the potential targets,Shwebo5-N and Shwebo3-S two structures are identified as the next exploration potential target.Meanwhile, due to the degree of exploration is not high,it may be certain cognitive limitations about the understanding of exploration potential of block C2 in Shwebo basin, that creates a certain risk for subsequent exploration. From analysis to know, the trap condition is the key to the oil and gas reservoir forming in Shwebo basin, because the influence of late tectonic movements, the early traps may suffer from a series of dual fault cutting, broken transformation and damage, however, the new trap, due to the formation of the late period, the communication between the faults and oil source is not smooth to influence oil and gas migration, may be a shortage of oil and gas filling.
