The Kangbao area in northern Hebei spans two geotectonic units,south of which area is the "Inner Mongolia platform anticline",northern edge of which is the "Inner Mongolia fold belt".The study area belongs to a region with thick soil cover with river systems undeveloped.Therefore,in recent years,prospecting work in the area has been slow,and prospecting effect is not ideal.Thus,this work takes the Kangbao area in Northern Hebei province as a research object.Using exploration geochemistry,the element parameters in the area are analyzed and geochemical anomalies are delineated.Combined with methods of geology and geophysical exploration,the key anomalies are verified and evaluated.The ore-forming targetareas are delineated and screened,the polymetallic minerals of which are predicted.The results provide a guideline for the next step of geological prospecting in the area.This paper uses data of geochemical soil survey at a scale of 1:50,000 in the study area.Data analysis of Au,Ag,Cu,Pb,Zn,As,Sb,Hg,W,Sn,Mo,U,Bi,Ni,Cr has been completed by SPSS Statistics software.The geochemical characteristics of the 15 elements were initially identified.The elements of Au,Cu,Zn,Cr,Ni,As,Sb,and Hg have the highest potential for prospecting relative to other geological units in the Upper Archean Hongqiying Group.Pb and Bi have the greatest potential for prospecting in Lower Proterozoic Huade Group.W and U have the largest prospecting potential in the Permian granitoids.Ag prospecting potential is better in Early Jurassic granites than other geological units.The prospecting potential of Sn and Mn are poor,which does not show difference in prospecting potential index in different geological units.The 15 elements were divided into 5 groups by correlation cluster analysis such as the associations of(Ni-Cr-Cu-Hg-Zn-Sb),(Pb-Ag),(Sn-As-W),(Au-Bi),(Mo-U).According to the results of geochemical soil survey,there are 307 elemental anomalies and 9 integrated anomalies in the area(including 1 geochemical anomaly of class a,5 geochemical anomalies of class b and 3 geochemical anomalies of class c).The distribution range and morphological characteristics of geochemical anomalies in the area are preliminarily delineated.Furthermore,the top four integrated anomalies are verified.The geophysical and geochemical comprehensive exploration profile measurement was carried out,the key anomaly areas of which were dissected and analyzed.Thus the prospecting targets was further narrowed down.The Beishacheng and Xiwufutang were designated as important prospecting targets.The key target area is verified by trenching engineering.And two lead-zinc mineralized bodies and three gold mineralized zones were discovered in the prospecting target of Beishacheng.
