Installing oceanographic detection equipment on exiting ships to monitor the oceans during marine navigations is the main measure to cognize the ocean environments, which can provide the basis support for the construction of marine powerful nation. How to transmit the monitoring data of marine environment efficiently and in real time from ships to shore-based receiving center,is one of the difficult problems which to be urgently solved.Based on the characteristic of S-band mobile satellite communication system and the short message transmitting capacity of Beidou satellites, this research designed a dual-mode satellite data transmission system which is suitable for ships.Firstly, this thesis reviewed the marine communication technologies and the maritime satellite communication systems which are commonly used at home and abroad, and introduced the characteristics, rules and the current research status of data communication technologies between ships.Secondly, the thesis proposed an overall design scheme of the ship-based oceanographic data dual-mode satellite transmission system from the aspects of function, interface relationship, index system, information flow and architecture.Thirdly, the thesis introduced the design idea and operating principle, and elaborated on the antenna design method, channel design method and software design method.Fourthly, the thesis introduced the design idea and software components of the multi-interface data integration and collection unit, and described the hardware design method, software design method and the key technologies in detail.Afterwards, the thesis discussed the system component, architecture and software design method of the shore-based data receiving center, and described the components, internal and external interface relationships, business processes and detailed design method of the data transmission and processing sub-system and the remote control sub-system.Finally,the work done in this thesis was summarized based on the experimental results, and the future work was proposed. The experimental results and analysis demonstrated that, the designed ship-based dual-mode satellite data transmission system designed in this thesis shows stable performance. The S-band mobile satellite data communication system has a high data bandwidth, which can transmit great amount of data. While the Beidou short message technology has a large covered range. The two methods can backup each other, and can provide steady data transmission and high success rate, which can resolve the problems of data collection and transmission during naval navigation effectively.Meanwhile, the data transmission function is also suitable for other fields. It is believed that the method in this thesis can help other scholars in related fields design acceptable and reasonable naval navigation real-time data transmission systems.
