Since the great development of Western China,the speed of urbanization in Xinjiang has been very fast.The rapid development of urbanization has brought a series of profound changes to the local area,but there are also many problems in the development mode of heavy speed and light quality.At the same time,Xinjiang is located in the arid region of Northwest China,and the water resources are extremely scarce,especially in the southern Xinjiang.Water resource is not only the key factor to maintain the health and stability of the ecological environment in this area,but also a bottleneck restricting the social and economic development of the region.The improper way of social and economic development leads to a series of ecological environment problems,which destroys the stability of the ecosystem.The deterioration of the ecological environment will also limit the further development of the social economy.Obviously,for the southern Xinjiang,only the coordinated development of urbanization quality and water resources can fully promote the healthy and sustainable development of urbanization.Therefore,this paper collects the social and economic statistics,water resources and related data of the counties and cities of Southern Xinjiang in 2014.The evaluation index system of the quality of urbanization and the carrying capacity of water resources in the southern Xinjiang region are constructed.Then,the methods of entropy and cluster analysis are used to analyze the quality of urbanization and the carrying capacity of water resources in 42 counties and cities in southern Xinjiang.On this basis,the coupling coordination degree model is used to analyze the coupling coordination degree between the quality of urbanization and the carrying capacity of water resources,and the countermeasures and suggestions for the coordinated development of the quality of urbanization and the carrying capacity of water resources are put forward.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The urbanization quality of 42 counties and cities in southern Xinjiang can be divided into five categories: 3 cities,such as Korla City,belong to excellent urbanization quality area;only Kuche County belongs to better urbanization quality area;19 counties and cities,such as Atux City belong to middle urbanization quality area;6 counties,such as Wuqia County,belong to low urbanization quality area;13 counties,such as Jiashi County,belong to poor urbanization quality area.(2)The carrying capacity of water resources of 42 counties and cities in southern Xinjiang can be divided into five categories: 6 counties and cities,such as Tashikuergan County,belong to excellent water resources carrying capacity area;7 counties and cities,such as Luntai County,belong to good water resources carrying capacity area;14 counties and cities,such as Wuqia County,belong to middle water resources carrying capacity area;11 counties and cities,such as Pishan County,belong to low water resources carrying capacity area;4 counties,such as Minfeng County,belong to poor water resources carrying capacity area.(3)The coupling coordination degree of 42 counties and cities in southern Xinjiang can be divided into eight categories: only Korla City belongs to intermediate coordination and lag type of water resources carrying capacity counties and cities;4 counties and cities,such as Aksu City,belong to primary coordination and lag type of water resources carrying capacity counties and cities;only Baicheng County belongs to primary coordination and lag type of urbanization quality counties and cities;21 counties and cities,such as Shaya County,belong to grudging coordination and lag type of water resources carrying capacity counties and cities;4 Counties,such as Wensu County,belong to grudging coordination and lag type of urbanization quality counties and cities;4 Counties,such as Yuepuhu County,are on the verge of disorder and lag type of water resources carrying capacity counties and cities;6 counties,such as Moyu County,are on the verge of disorder and lag type of urbanization quality counties and cities;only Luopu County belongs to mild maladjustment and lag type of urbanization quality counties and cities.
