| Collagen is a main component in leather.Collagen extracted from leather waste applied in other areas,such as adhesive,paper,has become a important research topic in tanning waste utilization.This topic is according to current applied situation of collagen in the papermaking industry and the theory of emulsion polymerization,adjust the formula composition,optimize the synthetic process.Collagen modified by acrylic monomers is prepared to polymer emulsion,and applied in the preparation of paper coating.In order to use synthetic latex products instead of butyl benzene latex as adhesives for paper coating.Methyl acrylate(MA),ethyl acrylate(EA),butyl acrylate(BA),acrylic acid(AAC),acrylamide(AAM)and acrylonitrile(AN)are main monomers in this study,potassium persulfate is a initiator,using seed emulsion polymerization method to make modified collagen polymer emulsion.Emulsion properties can be characterized by DSC,FTIR and other modern analysis methods.Studied factors affecting the emulsion and film properties:the way of feeding and monomers ratio,initiator dosage,emulsifier dosage,reaction time,reaction temperature,stirring speed,collagen adding order and the ratio of collagen and monomers.Obtained the optimum process conditions of making modified collagen polymer emulsion:using semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization method,ratio of soft monomers and hard monomers is 9:1,functional monomers is 9%of the total dosage of monomers,emulsifier to monomers is 2%of the total dosage of monomers,initiator is 0.9%of the total dosage of monomers,reaction temperature is between 85~90℃,reaction time is between 5-6 hours,stirring speed is about 200 r/min,ratio of collagen and monomers is 1:5,collagen added after all the monomers and initiator were added.This study preliminary discussed the application of modified collagen polymer emulsion in paper coating.Used the modified collagen polymer emulsion as adhesive in paper coating,and studied coating rheology and paper whiteness,glossiness,roughness,surface strength and water resistance.Results show that paper properties are improved after coating,the optimum ratio of butyl benzene latex and modified collagen protein adhesives are 5:7. |
