Non-polar solvent microwave-assisted extraction(NPSME)is a novel extraction technique, which is simple, fast, efficient, easy to operate and conducive to the extraction of non-polar and small polar compounds. In this paper, five extraction method were used to compare the extraction efficiency of the volatile compounds from Zanthoxylum Bungeanum Maxim, and the method which used non-polar solvent microwave-assisted extraction together with direct sample introduction were established for the determination of volatile compounds in Amomum kravanh Pierre ex Gagnep, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils.A brief description was given as follows:1.The volatile compounds from Zanthoxylum Bungeanum Maxim were successfully extracted by five extraction methods and identified by GC-MS.Compound species identified by NPSME method was more than the other four methods. The main compounds are Xanthoxylin(93.44%),Cryptone(0.51%),Piperitone(0.48%),Sabinene(0.48%)and so on.The results showed this method was a simple, rapid, efficient, consuming low amounts of plant materials and environmentally friendly technique for the determination of volatile compounds from plant samples.2.The method for the determination of volatile compounds from Amomum kravanh Pierre ex Gagnep by non-polar solvent microwave-assisted extraction with direct sample introduction/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was proposed. The optimal conditions of NPSME were selected by investigating the effects of microwave absorption tube, extraction solvent,solid-to-liquid ratio, extraction time on the extraction efficiency.60 compounds were identified and their relative contents were determined. The main components are Eucalyptol(70.34%),?-Pinene(6.81%),a-Terpineol(3.36%),a-Pinene(2.54%)and so on.The method has demonstrated to be simple, rapid, easy to operate without purification and consuming low amounts of plant materials for the determination of the volatile compounds from Amomum kravanh Pierre ex Gagnep.3.The method established by non-polar solvent microwave-assisted extraction coupled with direct sample introduction/gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in soils. It made quantitative analysis with external standard method. And It was found that the method provided a good linearity of calibration curve,RSD values varied from 6.41%to 13.21%(n=5)and the limit of detection(LOD)(S/N=3)of the developed method were in the range of 0.01-0.51 ?g/kg for each PAH.It can be concluded that the present method has the advantages of simple operation,no need of purification, short pretreatment time and excellent accuracy. Therefore it is applicable to determine polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in soil matrix.
