Research On The Application Of Sustainable Design In The Frame-board Bedroom Furniture Design

Sustainable design(SD)is a strategic of design action to build&develop sustainable solutions.This paper studied the application of sustainable design system(SDS)based on the life cycle optimization theory.It collected the main principles and methods from SDS which can be used on the frame-board bedroom furniture design.Since the author designed some bedroom furniture productions and refined them using those methods,SD was verified that can be used in the furniture design and do some work.This study extended the using fields of SDS.At last,the author quantitative analyzed the change of environment-friendly characters from the frame-board bedroom furniture which designed by SDS.The results tell us that SDS can do a good job on the frame-board bedroom furniture design.The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)This paper summarizes the research results of sustainable design theory,pointing out that the application of sustainable design theory in the frame-board furniture design is feasible.SD used on the frame-board bedroom furniture design aimed two key strategic,they are the reduction of the material&manufacturing energy consumption,and the optimization of the production service life.(2)The study focused on materials,structure,technology,function and shape when the frame-board bedroom furniture was designed on SDS.To help furniture designers using SD methods easy,the author afforded a special method to classify the furniture parts of the frame-board bedroom furniture:the main structure parts such as frame,the decorative parts such as all kinds of panel parts,and the functional parts such as drawers,partitions and shelves etc.(3)The SD used on the frame-board bedroom furniture design always follow three principles.The first law is to reduce the material&manufactured energy consumption;the next law is the optimization of the structural parts,decorative pieces and functional design to extend production life of the furniture;the last law is the parts of furniture which designed by SD could be replacement flexible.(4)The basic method of extending the production service life of the frame-board bedroom furniture by SD design is the important of this study.People can solve the physical old-aging problem of furniture parts by optimizing the furniture structure;Also people can get the right answer about psychology old-aging problem of the furniture by renew the decoration parts;at last,the functional parts service life should be compatible with the service life of the furniture.(5)This study has carried out validation work based on SD in the frame-board bedroom furniture.Through the typology analysis and energy consumption comparison,the Optimized design and quantitative analysis of the frame-board bedroom furniture are completed.results show that,under the premise of generating a replacement behavior within the established service life and without regard to the resources and energy consumption consumed of service,The product of frame-board bedroom furniture designed with the sustainable design theory saves more than 45%of the material and reduces the energy consumption by more than 36%compared to the ordinary products.Empirical studies show that sustainable design theory can be effectively applied to the frame-board bedroom furniture design,and promote the furniture products to the environment-friendly change.
