Because of high electrical conductivity, low liquidus temperature, wide electrochemical window and other superior properties, alkali metal chlorides salts were widely used as electrolyte in different areas by researchers.Among these systems,a ternary mixture system of LiCl-KCl-CsCl was paid more and more attention from researchers. To investigate basic physical and chemical properties of LiCl-KCl-CsCl melts, densities and electrical conductivities were measured by Archimedean method and capillary cell with fixed cell constant respectively in this thesis. In this study, densities of nineteen samples of LiCl-KCl-CsCl systems were measured. It shows that the densities increase with increasing temperature.Temperature dependence of density for the melts was fitted by the least square method. When mole fraction of one of the composition was fixed, the densities of the melts change with changing the mole fractions of the other two compositions. This is due to the difference between ionic radiuses of the cations. Both positive and negative deviations from the additivity were observed in the density and molar volume isotherms. It demonstrates that mixed alkali effect(MAE)exists in this system and has effect on the density and molar volume isotherms. The electrical conductivities of the samples were measured in this study. It shows that the electrical conductivities of the melts decrease with decreasing temperature.Temperature dependence of conductivity was fitted by the least square method and Arrhenius equation.Deviations of the electrical conductivity and molar conductance from the additivity were observed because of mixed alkali effect. It is found that in the LiCl-KCl-CsCl(xLiCl=0.575)melts,the MAE in the electrical conductivity isotherms is very small. But obvious negative deviations of the electrical conductivity isotherms of the other two melts from additivity were observed. This has a relationship with the total contents of the other two cations and the difference between the field strength of cations.
