There is a serious shortage of water resources in our country,and Tongliao City of Inner Mongolia,is one of the major water-starved cities.Since 1998,the water level of the surface river in Tongliao City is decreasing year by year,and even dry.The groundwater resources in Tongliao City have become the only water source for urban residents,industry and agriculture.In recent years,due to the declining water quality of urban centralized drinking water sources in Tongliao City,the water quality cannot satisfy the "groundwater quality standards" Class ? standards and the assessment requirements of the national plan action for water pollution control.In order to ensure the security of drinking water of Tongliao City residents and achieve the evaluation goal according to the national requirements of Water pollution prevention plan of action,this study adopts the single evaluation method of water quality parameters to analysis the present situation of water quality,using field reconnaissance modern remote sensing technology and geographic information system(GIS)to analysis the land use and human interference for water source protection zones.The present situation of groundwater exploitation and utilization and the purification process of existing water purification plants were briefly introduced.Then the main water environment problems of urban centralized drinking water source in Tongliao City were identified and the causes of major water environmental problems were analyzed.It also puts forward some reasonable suggestions to improve drinking water safety and quality.Through analysis,the main over standard factors of water quality in Tongliao City are iron,manganese and ammonia nitrogen.Because of Tongliao City special hydrogeochemical conditions and aquifer of overlying soil vadose zone and the mineral composition,particle size composition,chemical composition,resulted iron and manganese in drinking water source of Tongliao City background value exceeds bid.The excessive ammonia nitrogen is related to non-point source pollution of agricultural,decentralized sewage,pipeline leakage and the over-exploitation of underground water.At the same time,there are some problems such as single type of water source of drinking water in Tongliao City and inadequate standardization construction.To solve these problems of water environment,this study puts forward a series of suggestions,including the control measures of iron,manganese and ammonia nitrogen,the optimize water model,the construction of water source protection area standardization.In order to ensure drinking water safety,it needs to accelerate the construction of urban infrastructure standardization and to speed up the backup water source region.This study provided the scientific basis for the Tongliao City centralized drinking water source protection and management.Besides the study provide technical support for the Tongliao City water pollution prevention and control work smoothly.
