Glass and metal,in recent years,as well as glass-ceramics and metal sealing technology is developing rapidly, which finds applications in such as micro-clectric and electronic components, solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC)seals, biomedical titanium alloy seal as well as some other metal protection. As for SOFC sealing application, the insulation, coefficient of thermal expansion and chemical stability are important functions. But for the stress between different components still needs more works, which includes establishing a combined study of mathematical model of finite clement analysis and experiments.Based on the planar SOFC design, this work performed a numerical analysis by ANSYS,to find out the change of the stress and strain, and thus solve the temperature field and stress field under operation.By adding different elements such as Co,Fe,the bismuth-containing low temperature borosilicate sealing glass was prepared, and the thermal properties of sealing glass were study. The results show that the thermal expansion coefficient decreases with the addition of FeO3,Co2O3,and increases with the further addition content. The addition of iron oxide in the structure promotes the transition of structutal units from[BO3]to[BO4].After the long-term heat treatment, the addition of Fe2O3 promotes the glass crystallization. Some electromagnetic phases such as ZnFe2O3 form, which might find application in the electronic package. In addition, the Fe2O3-containing glass, shows good wetting performance with 304#stainless steel. In the study of planar SOFC by finite element method,it is found that the optimum sealing thickness should be close to that of the metallic substrate to obtain the minimum stress at the working temperature. The stress distribution, the stress vector and displacement size between glass and metallic substrate after 50 thermal cycles were also discussed to provide useful information for scaling design.
