Drinking water source is the source area for drinking water in cities and towns.The protection area of the water source is to prevent the pollution of the water source.The area where effective protection measures are implemented to ensure environmental quality and water quality of water sources.Drinking water source is the source area for drinking water in cities and towns.The protection area of the water source is to prevent the pollution of the water source.The area where effective protection measures are implemented to ensure environmental quality and water quality of water sources.It is relatively difficult in practice to demarcate the range of river-type water source reserves with only one method.In particular,the land area of water source reserves is pretty hard to determine because of the limitation of the current research.And in fact,the land area of most water source reserves is decided by the empirical method.This study takes the example of Niyu River source located in Zhouzhi County.And the research is based on field investigation and regional material analysis,strictly follows the Technical Specification of Drinking Water Source Reserves Division(HJ/T338-2007)and other related technical standards.Combined with RS,GIS and other technologies,this study has tried all kinds of methods to separate the water area and land area of the Niyu River source reserve.And in the end,this study will provide a more reasonable way of reserve range division by an analysis and a comparison of the actual situation of the water source.And this paper has put forward some concrete suggestions and specific measures for the protection and management of the water source reserve.The main results of this paper are as follows:(1)The environmental characteristics and the pollution actuality of the target research area have been clarified through field investigation and data collection: there is neither industrial pollution nor enterprise pollution in the upstream river,and the main pollutants are resulted from domestic pollution by the villagers living around.Besides,the research has also monitored and evaluated the quality of the water.According to the results,the water in the target river is of good quality.(2)This study has adopted analogy empirical method,numerical modeling method and emergency response method to divide in the research area the range of water reserves.And it has also defined the range of different water reserves at all levels by analyzing its actual situation.(3)When dividing the range of the land area of water source in the research area,the author of this paper has creatively pointed out a SCS numerical modeling based method to divide the land reserve together with empirical method and orographic boundary method,which has further guaranteed the rationality of the research results.And in the end,the final range of the water source reserve of our research has been settled down.And it has given correspondent and reliable suggestions of protection in hoping to be an actual example for the same type water source.
