Reactive polymeric surfactants are new surfactants with a relatively high molecular weight(10~3~10~6),good reactivity and a certain degree of interfacial activity,which not only can be combined by covalent bonds but also has the advantages of stable properties,good water res istance and low toxicity or no toxicity.Based on the advantages of reactive polymeric surfactants,Polymeric surfactants with epoxy groups were prepared in this study.Then polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were applied to the leather retanning and fatliquoring process.Based on the good interfacial activity,polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were also applied on carbon steel anticorrosive process in acidic medium to determine the anticorrosive mechanism.This study will play a role in promoting the development and application of new leather chemical materials and metal anticorrosion.In this paper,allyl glycidyl ether(AGE),acrylamide(AM),butyl acrylate(BA)and sodium allyl sulfonate(SAS)were used as raw materials.Ammonium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were used as redox initiator.Poly(AGE-AM),Poly(AGE-AM-BA)and Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were synthesised through free radical polymerization respectively.The monomer conversion rate,surface tension and the rotational viscosity were the main parameters.The ratio of monomer and the amount of redox initiator system were used as factors to optimize the polymerization process.The structures of reactive polymeric surfactants were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)and nuclear magnetic resonance(~1H-NMR).The other properties such as molecular weight,latex morphology,surface tension,interfacial tension,and hard water res istance,the properties of emulsification,foam and solubilization were also investigated.Through single-factor optimization,the optimal process for Poly(AGE-AM)was that the mass ratio of AGE to AM was 7:3,the initiator dosage was 12 wt%.The Poly(AGE-AM-BA)optimal process was that the mass ratio of AM to BA was 5:5,the mass ratio of the total mass of AM and BA to AGE was 3:7 and the initiator dosage was 12 wt%.The Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)optimal process was that the mass ratio of AM to BA was 5:5,the mass ratio of the total mass of AM and BA to AGE was 3:7,the SAS was 30 wt%of the total mass of the monomer and the amount of initiator was 15 wt%.The results of FT-IR and ~1H-NMR proved that monomers were successfully reacted with each other.The weight average molecular weights of Poly(AGE-AM),Poly(AGE-AM-BA)and Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)were 16622 g/mol,23953 g/mol and 6612 g/mol respectively.The compatibilizes of Poly(AGE-AM)reached to 1.2 mL/g for butyl acrylate.The Poly(AGE-AM-BA)had excellent surface activity and interface activity.Its critical surface tension and interfacial tension could be respectivelyreducedto39.15mN/mand3.20m N/m.The Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)had excellent wetting and emuls ifying properties,whose settlement time of the cotton cloth was 1.34 s.Then hard water resistance of polymeric surfactants with epoxy group could reach 5 levels.The polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were applied to the leather retanning and fatliquoring process.The results were compared with the commercial retanning fillers and commercial fatliquors.The retanning results showed that the leather phys ical and mechanical properties of Poly(AGE-AM)could significantly improve and tens ile strength increased 15.7%than that of commercial retanning fillers.The results of Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)showed good flexibility and physical mechanical properties at the same time.The Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)/castor oil fatliquoring agent prepared from the emuls ified castor oil and polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were applied in the process of leather fatliquoring.The softness,physical and mechanical properties and the content of intradermal fat were detected.The fatliquoring results showed that the performance of Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)/castor oil fatliquoring agent was the best.The softness of the leather increased 16.8%than that of the commercial fatliquors and the content of intradermal fat was 1.25times higher than that of the commercial fatliquors.In addition,the polymeric surfactants with epoxy group were applied to the anticorrosive process of carbon steel Q235 in acid medium.The corrosion rate and anticorrosive efficiency of carbon steel were measured by weight loss method.The application results showed that Poly(AGE-AM-BA-SAS)and Poly(AGE-AM-BA)had excellent anticorrosive efficiency with 97.8%.Besides,the Gibbs adsorption free energy of Poly(AGE-AM-BA)can reach-53.12 k J/mol.The anticorrosive mechanism was revealed by SEM and the Gibbs adsorption free energy.The isolation layer was formed at the interface to protect carbon steel from corrding in acid medium.
