Along with the continuous development of papermaking industry, the request of papermaking additives' performance increases continuously. And the development of new multifunctional papermaking additives becomes the main direction of papermaking additives. In this research we choose the polymeric and low-molecular surfactants that have been using in papermaking industry and study the interaction of the mixtures and investigate their applications in papermaking industry. In chapter 2, we research the interaction between a traditional polymeric surfactant polyacrylamide (PAM) and potassium abietate and study their applications in papermaking industry. The results showed that the complexes of PAM and potassium abietate formed depending on hydrogen bond . The complexes can be used under near neutral papermaking condition and the effects of improving paper sizing and paper strength simultaneously can be obtained. In chapter 3, a pilot study of the performances of the complexes of styrene-acrylamide-acrylic ramification copolymer (BAA) and alpha olefin sulfonate (AOS) was carried out. And the complexes showed emulsifying synergism effect within some certain scale. In chapter 4, the effect of the dispersed rosin size that made by using AOS/BAA complexes were investigated. The influence of built emulsifying agents and rosin ingredients on the stability of dispersed rosin size were also studied. The parallel experiments showed that good products can be obtained by using this built system.
